v Dartford

Although they didn't bring many,  Dartford fans behind the goal seemed very angry throughout the game 🤔

That was a fantastic effort from the team in the first half, Bakes and Unders imo got that spot and I would go as far in saying that was our best 45mins thus far this season.

Don’t get me wrong Dartford had a few chances but they where struggling to get to grips with Sloughs setup and all the positives that came from it.

Second half was a lot of Dartford nullifying Slough players that where influencing the game in the first half, this was not always done fairly with a fair number of fouls that a lot where not issued by the ref!
This also resulted in Slough dropping a lot deeper as a team.

RR I wouldn’t say the first goal was inexplicable due to loosing the ball in midfield it was lost in the final attacking third trying to find an opening / pass so are you saying players shouldn’t attempt to be positive in the final third?  Personally I didn’t hear a man on call with a number of players chasing our player down!

ref the second goal again turned over on the half way line - still a long way from Sloughs goal so maybe Dartford where very good on the transition after ratting for the ball very well on both occasions?

personally I think if Slough can sustain for 90 mins the first half Performane that win is very shortly coming.

We were there as always.

Thought we edged the first half with the first 20 minutes and the last 5. Middle 20 were fairly even IMO with a couple of good saves from Rhys.

Following on from my comments about Lench, I thought that was one of the best 1st half performances he has had for a long time. Effort and energy and a couple of the touches in the last 5 minutes were excellent. Why can't that be the standard? I strongly doubt my comments on here have an effect, but whatever changed from Saturday to Tuesday needs to stay.

2nd half, Dartford clearly figured us out and the best thing they could have done was take the #21 off at half time. One of the worst players I've seen this season (and we have watched to step 6🤣). Just a shame that Dowson figured that out as the 16 that came on partnered well in a change of formation with Sheringham and made the difference giving us 2 forwards to worry about. It was also obvious from minute 1 that the #4 was looking to run the game and Neil and Jon shouted at the team every time he got on the ball.

With that being said, I thought we dropped too deep for most of the half and invited pressure on (seems to be a common trait when we are leading). Thank goodness for Rhys as without him it would have been 5/6. Only thing I would say is both their goals did have a touch of offside about them. (Not had a chance to watch the highlights as went away for 2 days with the family hence the delay in response as well).

1st half there were big signs of improvement, 2nd half the improvement in Dartford and the drop off in us meant the points went begging. With a difficult looking November ahead, we need to get a "dirty, mucky win" somewhere soon otherwise, the result won't keep going our way elsewhere. Fingers crossed that can be tomorrow at Worthing.
