If a young striker that's new to the squad proves he's good enough i.e. hits the ground running scoring goals it's pretty certain he'll be at the forefront in team selection.

It will depend on the lads ambitions.

If he want's to progress to his highest level possible, somewhere along the line he's got to take a chance and not keep in his comfort zone of playing every week with his mates.

Judging by what Unders said that possibly others were in his ear saying as soon as Ben and Elliott were fit they would take his place suggests to me that the player and others are familiar with us and our squad.

Yes, others may be getting in the ear of the young player and making false claims about Slough. Some of it may be through jealously that he's been offered a chance to play higher, and they haven't ! We will never know. I just felt your post suggested that it was a formality for any young striker to make the grade here at Slough, when it clearly never is.

It wouldn`t be hard for this young player to have done his homework on Slough and our managers.  He would just need to see Alfonso coming in last season, when Ben was injured and took his chance, was our leading scorer and I believe was in the National League team of the season and kept Ben out of the team!

Don’t think we should waste anymore time on this player and let’s hope we can secure a striker before Dover as we’re creating opportunities but just aren’t converting enough of them. It would be a disaster for us to lose form and ruin the recent good work because of our lack of forward options, luckily our defeat today hasn’t made a big impact and we’re still just a point off a play off place. We need to be looking for a minimum of 4 points from the next 2 leagues game.

Of course it's not.

Iv'e never suggested it was a formality for any young striker to make the grade whether they join Slough or any other club.
