QUIZ NIGHT AND SPONSORED WALK

Recommended Posts

Hi Zealster.

Apologies. Very busy with the day job this week.

I believe that the organisers of the Walk to the [North]Woood have done just that. Organised the walk. For those walking the walk, the Intelligence Test is to organise the journey home themselves.

If it's any consolation Zealster, I and No 3 son haven't made any arrangements either but I'm sure that offers of lifts will be forthcoming from the Travelling City Faithful.

If not, we can walk back! [Real men can take it!!]

Can i just say, i have 2 spaces in my car for the journey home. however, i am not willing to take any one that is too p@ssed and will be sick in my car!!!!!

I am just about getting the smell of my sister's out of my car!!!!!! I had 4 air-freshners, much to the dispute of one of my travellers ( <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />)

Anyway, first come first i'm afraid, no favouritism from me!!!!

Well done to all the walkers, organisers, support vehicle driver, official photographer and all those that sponsored them.

According to that Chairman of the Supporters Club chap, the walk will raise close to £1500 when the sponsorship monies are collected, and a donation will be made to Grove House hospice.

Now that bit's out of the way, I was well brought up and, having played with the correctly shaped ball, I wouldn't argue with the referee, but.

That walk was never, ever 13.4 miles. It was 17 miles if it was an inch. The intrepid band set out at just after 9.00 a.m. at a steady pace and crossed under the M1 at Bricket Wood at 10.20. I looked at the "Notes, Walkers For The Guidance Of" and one of t'Committee had printed the milage from the internet [that's another thing that will never take off] and it said 3.8 miles to that point. My backside was it 3.8 miles. We checked it on the tachograph thingy on the ride home and it said 4.8 miles.

At Cassio Road just past Watford Town Hall, there is a signpost to Northwood saying 5 miles. The chap in the support vehicle checked it on his speedo and that particular stretch to the near end of Northwood High Street is 8 miles!

The man who owns the internet and the Mayor of Watford will be hearing from my solicitors.

Anyway. After a 20 minute stop for breakfast at a small restaurant called MacDonalds [they should open a chain] at Garston, we all arrived at Northwood F.C. at 1.30. Well done to everybody.

Last thing. I wouldn't want to receive money under false pretences so, notwithstanding that the walk was close to 20 miles, any generous person who sponsored me and No 3 son at so much per mile can calculate their donation at 13.4 miles.

Thanks very, very much to all of you.
