QUIZ NIGHT AND SPONSORED WALK

Recommended Posts

That's very, very generous indeed, Rob. [GHA: He hasn't realised that after Saturday's 4 goal haul against the Iron, we are the form team in the Division......counted over 1 game.]

I can see myself at the wheel of the new Ferrari already. I'm off to the pet shop. A dozen kittens for tomorrow night at The Hotel.

Oi GHA.

Did I hear a rumour that you might be around for Northwood on the 28th? You can tell us about all the studying that you have been doing since September. Then, when we get to Hatfield Road.....

Based on statistical analysis of our current run, our average is 4 per game, Rob.

You should have been there Rob. The front of Miguel De Souza's shirt was covered in blood. Just picture the scene. The Iron. Standing in the tunnel before being lead out onto the pitch. Buoyed up by the roar of the home crowd. They will have laughed at the rumour that t'lads were to bite the heads off live chickens in the dressing room before the match. Then. Look down and see Migsy's shirt covered in fresh blood. Hasta la vista, Mister. No more Mr Nice Guy.

In reality, the blood came from Migsy's nose after an early clash of heads. I told him that his Mum would have to wash it. The shirt, that is. Mind you, the lad is listening. Get up, spit on your sleeve, wipe the blood off, and get on with the game. He would probably have made a half tidy rugby player.

Kittens for tonight at Thurrock.

No, Rob. It's not one to over-do.

Chickens against the Iron because that game was elevated to HUGE status. Downgrade to kittens tonight.

Two on the bounce should maintain adrenalin levels for a few weeks. Something for the Urchins, perhaps.

I had a chat with that Chairman of the Supporters Club chap. Sponsorship forms for the Walk to the [North]Woood will be available tonight. He didn't mention the Ferrari, however.

The Quiz. Hmmmnn. I'm not approaching this one with the usual level of confidence, despite the fact that EFM have claimed a prior engagement to avoid the embarrassment.

You and Webbo could enter as "The U.K.'s No 1 Non League Site", Rob. Wear it with pride. Webbo is pretty good on the hit of Depeche Mode but you would have to carry him on anything else.

Is Laz entering his usual team of 20? He knows a bit about music.

Laz knows a lot about everything that isn't useful but cannot muster a large enough crowd for tonight.

As for the team of twenty, it started, as I recall, as me, Helsks and Claire, but were soon joined by just about anyone who turned up late. I think my proximity to the bar was partly responsible for my team's popularity.

Claire is available on a free transfer if you want here for your team.

Hi Rob.

I heard about the 'support vehicle' on Saturday. 'Support vehicle'? It's only 13.4 miles Rob. Time was when I would walk twice that far just to get to school in t'morning. Then when I was 13, I left school to go down t'pit....oh never mind. You don't want to hear my life story.

'Support vehicle'. That's the trouble with the Health & Safety Executive, Rob. Government interference. I blame hertsblue. Well done to those chaps and that gel on the Supporters Club Committee for getting it sorted, anyway.

So. How many are we? I hear that a former Mayor, leader of one of the political parties, County and District Councillor is walking. I wonder what his view is of the two lunatics and the Weapons of Mass Distraction. The Thatcher years? I'll let you know. A team from EFM are in, bless 'em. I'm not sure whether we'll quite make 200 walkers but there's still time for a few late-comers.

I wonder if the 'support vehicle' is the Ferrari rumoured to be the prize for the person who raises the most in sponsorship?

'El Presidente' Malcolm MacMillan worked a flanker last night beating me to all the usual suspects with his sponsorship form. I think he has his eye on the Ferrari.

I hear that a 13 year old youngster is insisting upon walking the walk so if any of you lot are still talking the talk, think again.

9.00 on Saturday morning. A walk in the park.
