QUIZ NIGHT AND SPONSORED WALK

Recommended Posts

Quiz Night and Sponsored Walk

The Supporters Club have arranged a music and entertainment quiz night for Friday, February 20th, at 7:30 pm. Teams of four or five can enter for an entrance fee of £10 per team. Contact Ian Rogers on 07714 145862 or just turn up on the night.

There is also a sponsored walk being planned by a group of supporters for the away game at Northwood on Saturday, February 28th. The walkers will be leaving Clarence Park at 9am to walk to the Northwood Park ground to raise money for both the club and the Grove House hospice. Sponsorship forms will be available from the Supporters Club shop at all home first team and reserve games leading up to the event.

Zealster.

The quiz. Does it clash with the Markyate disco? How about entering an EFM team, sweep the prize table as one or two think they know a bit about music, leave the clubhouse at 10.30 and straight up the A5 to pump the party?

The walk to The [north]Woood. 13.4 miles. It's a walk in the park. How many members of The Firm are up for it?

I think we should go for police motor-cycle outriders this year. Either that or we should separate into groups of 50.

Off to a big party on the evening of the 20th, which is a mighty shame as I'd have wiped the floor with all of you losers!

Up for the walk, though. How long will it take? Need to know, so that I can judge what size provisions rucksack to take with me.

Also, last time we did the walk, everyone else buggered off ahead at the speed of light with Knocky, and me, Mrs Zeal and GHA had to find our own way to Boreham Wood. Bloody shame the route didn't take us via Radlett Station really.

The walk to the [North]Woood starts at 9.00 am at t'Park, CZ. It's 13.4 miles, apparently. 3/3.5 hours? No problemo.

How many are we? A couple of hundred, or so? Any topics for conversation? The Lewis-Duckworth method of determining the result of rain-affected cricket matches. That decimal numeral stuff vs. the alphabetical system for stocking libraries. The two lunatics and the Weapons of Mass Distraction.

I'll go slowly and enjoy your company, Zealster.

Anyone not man [or woman] enough to cope with a short stroll in the park can sponsor me, with pleasure. Rob? Webbo?

What a gentleman you are, M&S!

If it's O.K. with you, I'll put you down on my sponsorship form as I heard a rumour, just a rumour, mind, that there is a prize of the choice of a Caribbean holiday or a Ferrari for the person who raises the most and my name is definitely on that if the rumour is true.

A cheque payable to St Albans City Supporters Club sent to Ian Rogers c/o The Club at Clarence Park is probably the 2nd best method of delivery, M&S, the best being to come to a game and drop it into the shop or the clubhouse or see me and I'll buy you a glass of lemonade.

Incidentally, grateful though we shall all be at your generosity, St. M., what's this "per mile" stuff? It surely doesn't enter your head to doubt whether I can make the full distance?

Is that like the same red Ferrari that was given to Simon Martin a year back? Do we have a special deal or something? Buy one get one free? <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Hi Claire.

Well I hope that it is a red one. When buying the car for Simon, the Supporters Club might have fallen for that old "buy a red Ferrari, get a yellow one free" deal that some suppliers were offering a while back, on the basis that no-one would actually choose to buy a yellow one.

No. Wait. Hang on a minute. The Supporters Club PotS was Gary Crawshaw. He got the solid gold trophy. It was the web-site that gave the Ferrari to Simon Martin when he won the closely fought, web-site PotS poll by a narrow margin of 137,003 vites.

I don't think that the web-site has anything, whatsoever, to do with the Walk to The [North]Woood. Well. Apart from Webbo and Rob sponsoring me at a fiver each, that is. Confirmation should be forthcoming any moment now.........
