A little surprised but certainly welcome another attacking option. I wonder if this 1 month loan is breathing space to find a permanent Dobbo replacement or it’s simply a 1 month loan that may be extended depending on how Dan does and if it’s within budget.

Dowson claims he still features in his plans for Dartford but isnt fit! Says he hopes he scores goals and returns match fit and confident

With Elliot Beynon out for a while we're very short on forwards

Glen

The official Dartford statement does call it an ' initial ' months loan so yes the potential to extend if both clubs and the player wish is there.

I reckon next Tuesdays game with Dartford is Dan Roberts last under current loan agreement  Are we trying to extend the loan?(with his and Dartfords agreement)

Pretty sure it was announced his last game is this Saturday? Plus it’s very unlikely any parent club would allow their player to line up against them (potentially embarrassing!). I’ve not seen him play so can’t comment but he’s not scored so would it be worth extending (may depend on the financials). Are we expecting either Benyon or Harris to return on Tuesday night otherwise we’ll left with an on loan youngster and near pensioner (sorry Manny!) as striking options?

I don't think Dartford have lost a game since Dan Roberts came to us on loan, so a possibility of extending the loan if we need to and the finances add up.

Problem is Dan hasn't scored a goal since his arrival and we have the youngster on loan from Wycombe who needs to play at some point.

I'm pretty sure elsewhere Neil confirmed that Saturday is Dan's last game on this loan spell.

Dad and I joked that it's not often you see a player potentially start for you on Saturday and against you on Tuesday🤷‍♂️.

Personally I'd be looking elsewhere depending on Elliots fitness (Ben should be another couple of weeks on the 4-6 week timescale originally given) for loans as

1. I'm not that keen on loaning from our division as what if the player gets hot and scores loads of goals and we ha e achieved that for another side in our league

2. Whilst Dan has run around loads and certainly done a job to cover Ben and Elliot, he really hasn't come across as good enough to compete with those to for playing time once they are fit (both of which should be in the next month).

Let Dan go back to Dartford and see what else is out there of required I'd say.

I've not seen Dan play for Slough this time around but I feel his game upfront has suffered since being at Dartford. Alan Dowson currently sees Dan as a winger, not a centre forward. Last season when under manager Steve King, Dan was in and out the team and slipped down the pecking order in their team. To me Dan needs to find a club where he can get regular game time, and get back to scoring goals. Dartford doesn't appear to be a good fit,as he appears to be on the fringes of their squad.

Slough are desperate for a goal poacher in and around the box/penalty area. Have Slough used Dan Roberts wisely for this loan period? To me running around a lot is not what we needed from him.

To be fair to Dan I do not think we have given him the service that he needs ie ball through the defence for him to run onto. It is asking too much for him to win a high ball against some of the giants in this league.

He may have been better if we had either Ben or Elliott playing alongside him (particularly at home)
