On the bench for Beaconsfield yesterday were ex rebels James Dobson, Mark Nisbet, Eitel Goueth and Elliott Buchanan.

Beaconsfield are bit of a old Slough players graveyard! Surprised Buchanan has gone there as I thought he’d still have enough to play at a higher level as I can’t imagine Beaconsfield are rolling in cash?

They’ve got a stronger bench than ours! ?

No cash?

Wasn't the reason why we lost Academy23 to Beaconsfied to do with financial reasons?

They probably got some sort of grant to help fund their new 3G but they still must of have had to pay out a fair chunk on money.

As far as I'm aware Elliott Buchanan left Farnborough because he wasn't thought good enough for their squad in the NLS.

Perhaps his level of football is now at step 3.

Financial reasons from A23’s perspective yes, meaning they left us to get a cheaper deal so I doubt they’re paying Beaconsfield much for the facilities they’re getting.

Didn't I see Sean Fraser and Sam Togwell in their line up also recently?

Togwell started yesterday but Sean wasn't listed in the 16 (all from Twitter).

Sean is playing there. He has played several games for them, perhaps he was just not available/or out injured.

I would think playing at Step 3 is appealing to a lot of non-league players,as they don't have to be quite as dedicated and as professional orientated as with Step 2  and so they can play with more freedom and less pressure.

I was surprised Slough didn't go after Elliott Buchanan when he was released from Farnborough. He may not be as good as he was but he still knows how to score goals. It's also galling to think Beaconsfield can afford more than Slough at this present time [if this scenario is true?].

The striker situation/approach at our club this season has been a bizarre way to operate and now we are resorting to short term loan deals to address the issue.Given that there was another injury to Ben Harris last night, to now join Elliott Benyon out, would be a telling blow. We have to hope Ben's injury isn't too bad, as with Dan Roberts and George Cowmeadow on one month loans, our lack of expertise up front is likely to destroy the relatively good start the team has made to this season.

On a positive Dan Roberts might be a player we might be able to prise off Dartford, given that he isn't getting games with them, and just maybe he isn't as enamoured with being with them now.

Obviously it will depend on a players personal situation and the money on offer but in general if playing at step 3 is more appealing to a player than playing at step 2, I'd say that player lacks ambition or motivation to test himself at the highest level possible.

It's pretty nigh on certain that Elliott Buchanan hasn't slipped under the radar with our managers with the possibility being that they either don't think he's good enough or he's asked for too much money.

Have to say the George Cowmeadow loan is a bit baffling. I know he hasn't cost the club a penny and nothing was promised but to develop as a player surely he needs to be playing.

To prise Dan Roberts off Dartford he would have to come down a lot on his wage expectations.

Elliot Buchanan takes a lot of criticism in Beaconsfields  latest match report  (lost 1-3 to Harrow) Apparantly unwilling to do the hard graft expecting the ball to be delivered on to his feet by team mates who are putting the work in!

He came on after 30 minutes when Nathan Minhas went off injured after scoring. To that point Beaconsfield where well in control of the game and should have gone on to win comfortably. After he came on, the ball didn't stick up front, he looked slow, didn't win a header and his passing was average at best. Not surprised he took some stick as he was very poor and didn't live up to the "hype" around his name at all.

Has Elliott Buchanan been playing for anyone since he left Farnborough?

I wouldn't judge any player on 60 minutes of one match !

I just think he may not be match fit, if he hasn't had a proper pre-season anywhere. Also he has only just joined Beaconsfield,so he may not have settled in with his new team mates yet. Having watched Elliott  play over the years I would definitely take a chance on him as he is versatile and can play off the left wing as well as a centre forward. To me his experience now is second to none, and he will score goals, and in my opinion he may just be lacking motivation, as playing for Beaconsfield is hardly awe inspiring for this player [with the lack of a crowd/atmosphere] as he's been used to playing in teams challenging for honours.

What player would be busting a gut for Beaconsfield, when they probably feel 'disgruntled' by being let go of by the play off winners Farnborough last season? Get real.

A good manager may actually be able to get him firing again. I'm surprised Gary McCann didn't take a look at him, to be honest. Players do get past their sell by date and fade quickly but there's plenty of players who have had lulls in their playing career, to then come back and have stormers. Take Scott Davis for one. Many fans had written him off but he's still going strong. Getting in a player with Elliott's know how and pedigree is hard to find,as our managers have testified in their hunt for strikers, so why be harsh on him on one poor performance?

I can only speak on what I've seen. He was very poor in a game that Beaconsfield should have won. Totally agree with you in the inspirational merits of playing for Beaconsfield, but on what I saw of him last year for Hayes and Farnborough he didn't look anything like good enough for our level.

Seeing Beaconsfield on Saturday and Monday next week so will be interesting if Minhas is out and he starts, if there will be any spark there.

Fair enough. We shall have to agree to disagree on Elliott Buchanan.
