Two teams with  same points 13 and same records so far W4 D1 L3 Braintree have a 7 goal advantage in GD however   Braintree probably fancy their chances since they havent lost at home and are the only team to have taken points from second placed H&W. IMO we are overdue the rub of the green some good good luck and a competent and neutral performance by the officials Hopefully we'll  have a number of players fired up by recent events who will produce the kind of performance we all know theyre capable off We need to start accruing points in our pursuit of a playoff spot.

We should’ve nicked it, got stronger and stronger as the game went on. Barring the opening 15-20 of the 2nd half.

Overall, a good away point against a steady team, thought the back 4 were excellent.

WR (and those that went) - how did Dan Roberts get on?

Thought he looked lively, ran his nuts off (but they all did). He went one on one early, slightly wide of the goal, dragged it just wide of the far post. I think if that goes in it’s a comfortable win. Joe Dandy MoM for me!

Looking at the league table before yesterday's game, I was hoping we would come away from Braintree with a point.

( I thought a win would be pushing it a bit. )

Walking out of the ground at the end of the match, I felt disappointed we hadn't gotten the 3 pts.

If Dan had scored that great chance he had very early on I think we would have seen a different game.

( The match report says that his shot "flew just wide of the post". No it didn't. It crossed the dead ball line yards away from the goalpost.

What made the miss worse in my eyes was that Ben was near the centre of the goal and although had defenders near him I thought would have had  a relatively straightforward tap in if Dan had played it sideways. )

It was nice to see Dan's pace throughout the match though, and he seemed to have got a more physical aspect to his game than when he left.

I was expecting much more from Braintree.

I think Neil called Braintree "a good team" in his aftermatch interview.

Now they may have played brilliantly in every game up until yesterday, they may play brilliantly in every game from now until the end of the season, but yesterday I thought they were poor.

To me, after Ben's equaliser, Braintree were just time wasting and hanging on for a draw.

There was still half an hour to be played but that's what it looked like to me.

30 minutes to go, playing at home, and they're happy with a point.

How long did their goalie take to kick the ball out of his hands from his penalty area ?.......... Ages.

How many times did he do this ?.......... Every time.

How many times did Dan have to run behind the goalline or to the wing to throw the ball back to Braintree to hurry them up to get the ball back in play ?.............Numerous.

Now you expect teams to timewaste when they're winning, but not when they're playing at home and only drawing the match !

I wasn't impressed with the officials either, as usual sadly.

The ref let Braintree take so long over a substitution in the 2nd half, that we took the chance to have an unofficial drinks break.

More time wasting tactics from Braintree.

Poor Lee gets booked for his first strong tackle, early in the contest.

A Braintree defender then commits a foul and the ref calls the player to him, has a chat and then carries on with the game.

Another Braintree foul, another chat. Play on.

Another Braintree foul, another chat. Play on.

Another Braintree foul, another chat. Play on.

Another Braintree foul. Ref calls the Braintree captain over to join him in his chat to the offender. Play on.

More Braintree fouls, until finally, towards the end of the game, the Braintree no. 3 finally gets a yellow card. ( And substituted soon after ! )

The linesman on the far side of the pitch from me wasn't any better.

He seemed to even lose the ability to flag for a throw in at one point near the end of the game.

These (as I normally say on here) are just my thoughts on what I saw yesterday, and someone else may well have seen the game differently to me.

That's the beauty of the game, but one thing I think all Slough fans can agree on is that Braintree should be ashamed of themselves to charge 3 quid for their match programme.

What a rip off !

For a National League South team to have the nerve to charge three English pounds for that effort is shameful.

Still, last season they didn't even produce any programme at all for the match, so at least I saved myself 3 pounds last season !

Agree HR, fair reflection. I just think Braintree are a big, physical team that play the channels well with the pacey giant up front their outlet. They will get wins and draws at home against most because of their physicality, I just thought they were a steady solid team that get the run around when a team plays football like we did.

I can’t comment on the programme ?

Their number 3 is the one who got a talking to then another one with the captain there… I thought it was one warning and then a yellow, found that odd. Yes, they were time wasting from the 50th minute!

Nice post HR!

Good to see someone who attended the game give their view.

I stopped buying away programmes years ago due to most being very poor value for money.

Hi RR.

I can understand your reasons for not buying any away match programmes anymore, but I'm still "gutted" if I go to a game and don't get one.

I'm not looking forward to the day when they all go on-line, which I fear is coming.

My match day experience wouldn't be the same !

It’s already happening at many professional and non league clubs and no doubt printed programmes will be become very rare in the next few years. Fully understandable as they’re just not cost effective and with the internet so accessible most of what is in a programme can be found online. When I used to buy one I usually only found around 25% worth reading!

Braintree where they're for the taking yesterday and they may say the same about us, but the last 20 mins their defenders where shattered, probable fa cup replay causing some of that mental and physical exhaustion.  If I recall correct the CB even tripped himself up whilst trying to clear the ball when being hunted down as he ran towards the bi line.

They subbed the 3 as he was going to end up getting sent off as he was making poor challenges and decisions, probably should have already had a second yellow prior to being subbed.

I can imagine on their day the two wingers causing havoc as both fast and technical, the 11 Clemons did very well in the build up to their goal.  I bet that 9 Amantchi could not score that goal again if he had x amount of exact chances but scored it so fair play to him, other than that he did nothing of relevance.  Dandy and Hollis gave him a good physical game.

Rhys pulled off a worldie for us 1 on 1, there was an occasion when their own player headed just wide whilst the goalie was routed to the spot, I thought that was going to be the moment for the second goal.

Both teams lacked clinical display in front of goal and in the final third play.

Another set piece goal for Slough ?

With regards to there being no radio yesterday, firstly it’s done by volunteers who, apart from Max, work for a living. At this time of economic woe, if someone has to work then they have to work.

Secondly, both our new commentators aren’t Slough fans so don’t attend every game. For me it was different, I’m Slough through and through and always go to games hence why I started doing the radio.

Also none of new team live in Slough so all have a bit of travelling to do. Both main guys, Kiro and Luke , live in London and pay to get to all games, I have asked the Trust to give them discount on supporters coach, as neither drive, but this was turned down. Is it fair they pay to get to away games just to volunteer?

We asked for people to step forward and no one came forward. That is currently how it is

Surprised by the Trust’s decision and it really doesn’t look good on their part.

That is a disgrace. A discount!!!!! They should have 100% free use of the coach if they are going to commentate on the game for fans that can't make the trip.

Fair play to the lads that have stepped forwards and hopefully they will catch the bug for it and be able to provide those that need it as good (if not better?) commentary than before.
