2 evenly matched teams one which only scored once and the other who scored 3 in 11 mins - evenly matched? - will be intresting to watch the "highlights" to see how many times we forced a save from the Worthing keeper.

Agree about the "inept atrocious officiating", however "Never seen anything like that!" must mean you do not get to see many non-league refs!

Another season with no FA cup run and the money associated with it.

Makes a good Trophy run an essential must have imo

Yes the officials were f***ing shit but it’s still so frustrating to be winning with 30 minutes to go and to let 3 goals in. In the first half we had a couple of chances where we just didn’t make the correct decision and a good chance was wasted. Worthing were ok but nothing special and it’s a big worry financially to go out so early of a money spinning competition. We just have to hope we can bounce straight back and win at Braintree to keep our league campaign on track as that’s the only competition now that may increase our dwindling home crowds.

It looked like a pretty good crowd today by our standards  Anyone know what was declared please

Disgraceful, repulsive language which is totally unfit for this forum and anywhere else in society.

Get real SD, fair enough you’re easily offended but bad language is part of football and life and always will be. Do you block your ears out when you watch live football or do you go and ask every individual to stop swearing? Nah thought not!

There was at least 50 away fans so just over 400 home fans is poor. We now have 2 tough away games against what I see as ‘bogey’ teams so unless we play to our very best pints may be hard to come by. We need 4 from 6 to maintain our play off push.

I was in Somerset so only saw a few glimpses  online obviously from the best occupied areas  Yes 400 of our own is very poor especially at the start of an FA Cup campaign

For my first game of the season, I thought Slough losing was a travesty of justice, as in my opinion Slough at the very least deserved a draw, and Worthing's number 8 should have been sent off before Worthing made their comeback. To then have him involved in Worthing's equaliser and other goals added insult to injury. I also thought Slough should have had a penalty when leading 1-0,which we never got.... and our team's luck conspired to completely dessert them just when we didn't need it.

With my non biased head I was pleased to see Dan Bowry playing for Worthing [a young player who I liked when playing for Hampton FC, a few seasons ago] Unfortunately he went and scored their second goal, which I wasn't so happy about !

I cant say I was expecting much from this Slough side, as our squad on the day looked short of options [and we didn't even have Scott Davies or George Hunt today] but after the initial 15 minutes our team began to get into it's stride and steadily improved through the first half, without creating many chances up front or looking very exciting.

Still, going into the second period I was optimistic that we could grind a win out, as Worthing wasn't looking anything special either.

With the introduction of George Cowmeadow [great name] for the lacklustre Imran Kayani, our play did seem to go up a notch and a goal of some quality by Lee Togwell seemed to bring about a change in belief that we could win this game. However, the turning point was the melee caused the Worthing number 8. Rather than galvanising our good play,it seemed to have the opposite effect and somehow our players switched off from the task of winning the game to being out thought and out fought by a Worthing team who made their goal scoring chances count, once they had been riled up our boys and their handbags.

I can understand how frustrated our managers must be tonight, as Slough looked the more likely to win that match, only to be cruelly denyed come the end of it.

Positives:

In general play I thought we played well and were marginally the better side.

The goal from Toggs was a top draw strike.

Matt Lench thoroughly deserved his MOTM award.

Negatives:

We were again lacking at both ends of the pitch.

After taking the lead with a great strike we proceeded to shoot ourselves in the foot.

At least 2 and very possibly all 3 of their goals coming by way of some poor defensive play or a mistake.

I can only remember their keeper having to make one decent save and possibly his only save all game.

Very disappointing to be out of the cup again at the first stage but if you defend like we did and not work the keeper you can't expect to win too many games of football.

I agree with all your positives but with your negatives I didn't think Slough were that bad defensively[for best part of the game]. Goalkeeper mistake for their first one and not cutting the cross out on our right side for their second, or was it their third? I was still shell shocked and dumb struck when Worthing's second went in ! Just couldn't believe the game had slipped from Slough's grasp.

For me Slough looked like a team without loads of belief or faith in their attack. At first I was thinking the Slough players weren't up for the game and it hardly helped given the quiet crowd first half. It was plain to see that the team is missing a spark to set them off, so much so that they fell back on the dull Guy Hollis long throw tactic for much of our attacks in the first half.  It is still early season so this aspect can easily be improved on as we get players back, and bring players in, and players build up their understanding of the tactics the managers want employed.

I thought Joe Dandy had a reasonable game at centre half today, and didn't look out of his depth there but whether he will be the answer for Slough in this position all season is a harder one to call. I,too, thought Matt Lench was our best player on the day but even he looked short of ideas at times in the game.

As you say we were ok defensively for the best part of the game but my point on it being a negative is that all three goals were imo poorly defended.

Their second goal came from corner that wasn't defended properly and their third was a straight forward lump up field and a pure and simple mis-judgement from Joe Dandy.

This photo is not at the point the ball was played.

If you look carefully at the match highlights this is not the point that the ball is played, this is about 2 frames too early, Lenchs last contact with the ball is when his left leg is forward. The highlights shows that Harris is on the 18 yard line and it is more marginal if he is offside when the ball is played and that the Worthing 14 has moved slightly out of the box, Kayani is offside although is he "active"?

The thing which may have swung it for the lino was that Harris's torso was leaning forward and the Worthing 14 was leaning back.

I hate to say it but the lino may have been right.

I was in line with Ben and can categorically 200% state he was onside

The Lino got it badly wrong!

I thought we were excellent defensively.

1st goal, no blame on the back 4, just one of those things.

2nd goal, probably can pick the bones out of it and point the finger at someone BUT I think the players like everyone else were in complete shock at this point.

3rd goal, as Unders said, couldn’t care less and isn’t a result of bad defending, we had everyone going for the equaliser.

One thing not really said is Worthing are unbeaten this season and from what I saw, are a bloody good team who play some bloody good football, best team I’ve seen us play so far. Ok, they got the rub of the green with the decisions but up until the officials eventually tipped their decision making over the edge it was a good contest between 2 good competitive teams. We’ll win more than we lose playing the way we did and I think people need to credit all at that club a bit more for the squad that has been put together and maybe stop saying we need this and that as we simply do not have the money, if we did I’m sure Bakes and Unders would tweak things but not massively, we’re not a million miles away!

Enjoy the ride, COME ON YOU REBELS!

Clive you can watch the video also and see exactly the moment where Lenchy passed it, he was onside (and because of the 14 back leg and positioning of foot about half a yard), and with assistant in a great line is a poor one tbh, Imran has nothing to do with it as not interfering with play, and not played in his direction so is redundant.

Assistant has flagged as 14 steps up with his hand in the air.

However in his defence it is tight, but the facts remain it was wrong, as was the red card incident right in front of us, he whacked Lenchy over the head with an open hand, which you just can’t do.

However at the same time we had been comfortable outside of first 10 mins, Northy has to do better with their goal, second is a corner which rarely happens against us, third I don’t even care about as we are 95th minute and have thrown everyone forward and are completely open.

In all honesty I don’t think anyone can say we deserved to go out, and the lads didn’t put in a good shift.

Dissapointing for sure as we all know how important an FA Cup run can be, certainly ruined my week ahead.

Yes disappointing for sure and officials had a big influence on this game.and McLeod 100% should have been sent off and he knows it, my call on it is by Ben running over and getting involved which then escalated this gave McLeod some grace due to the carnage the ref had too sort out and his desperation in showing his ripped shirt to the ref making out he was on the end of some bad behaviour as well! if Lench stays down (as it was right in front of the lino) there is no grey areas to look through - straight red.  That said the ref officials bottled it imho!!

Worthing are a very brave footballing side and make the pitch very wide in possession but for 80 minutes they had very little success in the final third in creating what I would class as a real opportunities, yes some half chances where there.  A lot of there nice football was played in their half or just in our half (keep ball) but they didn't really leave a glove on us and are back four looked fine and dandy (not punt intended).

Worthing IMO became a much bigger threat in the last 10 and extra time as they increased tempo and got the ball forward a lot quicker after what should have been a red card incident.

I thought Lee Togwell was our motm yesterday goal aside he had a great game in what at times was 2v3 in centre midfield.

Slough are in good shape and I stand by my earlier posts, the playoffs are well within our reach come the end of the season as long as we don't have poor officials every week as for sure this season we have had more go against us then with us on decisions.

Up the Rebels
