WORTHING H 17TH SEPT FA CUP

When Worthing beat Cheshunt 3-2 yesterday (after Cheshunt threw away another 2 nil lead )That was their first home win of the season  They are imo not as good as their early record suggests although theyve done better away from home  Too early after just 8 games to really judge most teams  but this is an FA cup tie and should be viewed as a must win game by us  Supporters turn up if they believe a cup run is possible as we saw twice in recent years We certainly need the prize money the publicity the prestige and the gate income a decent run will provide  Another very poor gate last night  (there wasnt just inclement weather around Slough) Im expecting a Rebel victory and progress to the next round.

I dunno I’m expecting Worthing to be decent and wouldn’t be surprised to see them in the play offs come the seasons end. They’re well supported and by all accounts have a healthy budget. But we’re in good form and at home so it should be close but yes we could do with the prize money and the chance of progressing. Hopefully the crowd will break 600 as our crowds have been pretty dire so far!

I agree they could make playoffs You only have to come no worse than 7th to do that  Thats our ambition this season after all I would hope/expect more than 600.

Adrian, Worthing are unbeaten and third in the table, on what basis do you think they are not as good as their earlier record suggests?

On a miserable rainy night with the Champions League on telly I thought 452 was quite a decent attendance.

I like to be positive going into a game but I don't go into any game expecting to win.

This is one tough game and with what looks like an injury to Elliott Benyon that will keep him out for a while we are already on the back foot in the striker department.

Just regarding attendance on Tuesday compared to other clubs, Dulwich only got 970 not their usual 1500+, Eastbourne had 565 for visit of Welling compared to 1023 for last home game, and Ebbsfleet only got 935 with 1200+ for last Saturday match.

Also as a club we didn’t feel it was right to invite kids to do guard of honour for that game.

Ade are there any upcoming initiatives to increase the home crowds?

RR

Imo Worthings league position flatters to deceive They've had a remarkably soft introduction to NLS We are currently 9th theyve  had just 1 meeting with the teams from 1to8 with 5th placed Welling The other 7 teams theyve played are 10th 13th 14th 15th 19th 23rd 24th No clashes with the perceived top teams so I believe that if we play at our best we can proceed to the next round

Not necessarily aimed at increasing attendances but more our profile in the community. With the kids guard of honour/kick about , the feedback is that the kids have a great time and we have people asking to do this rather than us approaching teams.

Building attendances isn’t just a short term strategy and we have more initiatives coming up. Food offers, after match entertainment and more community projects are all in the pipeline. Our new school offer ,which started in March this year, proved much more responsive than the previous offerings.

You will see an article in Saturday’s programme by Brighton Rebel where we have asked for ideas and replied with answers, I’m sure Warren will post it in the usual place if people can’t attend the game.

Hungerford have 4 for a score which looks a good deal.

£20 will get you a match ticket, Burger & chips/Sausage & chips etc a drink and a programme.

It is but… but looking in more detail I’d estimate the actual costs to the club of the food and drink portion would be about £4 plus a £1 for the programme then you can see you’re still paying around £15 for entry.

There is a balancing act to be done here.

Value for money verses generating extra income.

It is no good bundling entrance, food, drink and a programme for £20 if it costs you £21 to offer it.

But at the same time if you do not make the package inviting you will not sell much.

However as none of us are privy to the finances of the club, season ticket sales, wages, transfer fees etc, best we leave this to the board to sort out.

They’re obviously making money out of that £20 offer as i roughly broke it down. I’d say £13-£14 profit there.

Just booked tomorrows ticket on 'Ticket pass'.

Have to say I didn't find it straight forward and by mistake I've ordered 2 senior tickets.

If anyone is thinking about ordering a senior ticket in advance for the lower price of £7 please let me know if you are willing to help me out with this spare ticket I have.
