Bracknell,  Beaconsfield or Chesham for a bit of spicy local interest

Away to Bracknell would be a 5 minute trek for me but that would actually be a very tough game so no! I’m hoping away to a club I’ve not visited yet and somewhere around an hour away. But in any case whoever we get we just need to win to bring in some much needed funds.

Home to Worthing

We seem to have a knack in recent years of just getting another NLS fixture in the draw

I doubt that this is the draw that anyone wanted. ( at least not H&W?)

Hoping for a lower league team away to experience a new ground.

Difficult with Worthing's form but still winnable. Will need to be at our best.

Didn't want to play against a team from our league at this stage of the Cup, but at least we're at home.

Reading the cash amounts available for winning at various rounds of the competition I see that winners of  1st Round Proper ties get  41,000 pounds !

(Now I'm definitely not thinking that far ahead but it wasn't anywhere near that amount when we managed to achieve that in successive seasons not that long ago was it ?)

As for the Holyport match yesterday, not only did Holyport lose to an added time dubious penalty, but the "offender" was shown the red card.

Where's VAR when you need it !

Reading Rebel, the parking was indeed on the cricket facilites, and the parking and the game itself seemed to me to have been staged very well by all involved.

Strangely, Holyport F.C. don't play in Holyport ! First time I've been to their ground and enjoyed the day, apart from the result.

Funnily enough the second year when we got to the second round the prize money overall was larger, we got 25k for winning the 4th qualifying round (nowhere near that this year) and 36k for winning the first round proper (so slightly less).

They cut the money after COVID and also put in a losing amount in the qualifying rounds only, so now if you lose in the first round proper, you have not made as much as you used to.

In reality whilst the FA Cup is potential to make money, to do really well financially you need to get to at least first/second round proper, and also hope to get a TV game.

The big prize is obviously making the third round proper.

I know Slough have never achieved that, but on average every season a club from our level makes it to the third round, and it doesn’t necessarily tend to be the strongest clubs from our level (Kidderminster & Chorley in recent seasons) So, the odds of achieving it are long at something like 50/1, but that’s better odds than we are currently quoted at to win our division (80/1 to 150/1).

And you’ve come close to achieving it twice in your last nine seasons.

I think the grounds at North Maidenhead Cricket Club.

Having said this game is at home and winnable, Worthing's record so far this season is quite impressive.

Played 7 lost 0

12 goals for 5 against.

3 draws at home but 4 away wins against Dartford, Weymouth, St Albans and Welling.

Of course every games winnable but I'd say quite a formidable task on our hands based on their away record this season.
