So Shenfield done it... pulled off a surprise result 4-2 against newly promoted step 6 side Belstone what a result for them.

Delaney - That's right, 4-2 after extra time, groundhopper and blogger Oliver Sims was in attendance and also see a link to the match programme. I wonder whether Agamemnon3 made the trip to the Wormley Playing Fields:

A groundhopper from another Forum was in attendance at the Wormley Playing Fields:

Anagram Records Trophy - Final
Shenfield AFC v Belstone 4-2 aet, (ht 1-0, ft 2-2)
Venue: Wormley Rovers FC, Church Lane, Kick off: 2.30pm (actually 2.45pm)
Entry: £5/3, £2 programme, attendance: h/c 226
With Shenfield a distance fifth to Essex Olympian League champions Rayleigh Town, and Belstone having won the Herts Senior County League Premier Division, this was a slightly surprising result. Shenfield got a lucky break after just four minutes when a shot from Ben Absolon was going just wide of the top angle before the Belstone keeper's attempt to scoop the ball over the bar instead diverted it into the net. Shenfield took the initiative and played some nice football but Belstone soon found their feet and dominated the remainder of half with plenty of shots on target.
Early in the second half Belstone equalised with an equally fortuitous goal, a cross was headed against the post and as the ball rebounded it hit an onrushing defender and returned itself to the net. Shenfield responded well and we enjoyed an even half with chances at both ends. Shenfield retook the lead when Ben Absolon received the ball on the edge of the box, killed the ball, turned and fired into the net. Belstone's second equaliser came six minutes later when a freekick was delivered into a crowded box and touched in by number 24. With the prospect of extra time both sides were pushing for a winner and even with nine minutes of added time neither could make the breakthrough.
But, then, extra time was all over after four minutes! Shenfield's Nathan Ball scored twice in that time, both low shots from the edge of the box. This seemed to knock the stuffing out of Belstone and they barely threatened as Shenfield comfortably ran out winners to take over the mantle of current holders from Belstone.
A very enjoyable afternoon in lovely sunshine. The ground isn't really much different to when I saw a Herts County game here in 2011. Just a small replacement stand and surround fencing which doesn't stop anyone from watching from outside, and still only three sided for spectators. The bar and cafe were doing great business with plenty of families and quite a few people who were socialising rather than watching the game. Wormley produced a reasonable printed programme while Shenfield produced a scant online effort.

Delaney - Yes, congratulations to Belstone FC on their promotion to Step 6 level, I see that they have been placed in the Combined Counties League Division One, I thought the SSML Division One would have been more appropriate so perhaps they will appeal:
