So SG, as you won’t help with providing any rain, how about a prediction for the outcome of the game?

The forecast for Saturday afternoon is:

32 deg C

Pressure 1018 mpa

Chance of precipitation <5%

Wind 6 mph gusting to 16 mph from an easterly direction

Excellent visibility >40km

26% humidity

UV level 4

Sunrise 05:44 Sunset 20:30

Amber weather warning for heat.

With all this information I would expect you to be able to predict the end of game score, the goal scorers, who will give the assists, and maybe with the help of your friend who went to Cambridge, the time of each goal.

Should be a walk in the park for a man of your abilities SG.

What, even after Tonbridge Angels opening day 1-3 win at Weymouth Sir Rebel1965? They have begun the league season with three aways as they have had a new 3G pitch laid during the summer.

23rd June 2022 : "The ground has been a hive of activity over the past two weeks. Drainage pipes have been laid and covered, this work is mostly complete. The perimeter kerbing has been installed and the fencing contractors have started installing the new perimeter fence. Ducting and cabling for internet services and the new PA system is being installed. Floodlight pylon bases and cabling have been installed. The binding agent for the "blinding" layer, which goes on top of the aggregate was delivered today. The blinding layer forms a solid base for the rubber shock pad which in turn supports the pitch top weave (the artificial playing surface)."

You seem to be quite a jovial character Sir Rebel 1965 who often likes to use this forum for your own amusement.

I have been to coastal towns on very windy days but I have also been to them on still days when they can make one coming from inland feel very sleepy. I thought that that was common knowledge. On a day when there is that change in atmospheric conditions between an inland town and a coastal town, it affects football teams the same as the rest of us.

Can't see how a new shirt can be announced this late in the day.

Ready for Saturday, I have washed and ironed my Slough Town shirt which I purchased at Wexham Park during the 1994/5 season.

Must admit when I went to Weymouth I felt very sleepy the moment I could smell the sea air  ?

Away  - 23:20

I am expecting a home win but Weymouth were last week.

The National league have the Oldham v Dorking kicking off at 5:20 - nothing to do with player welfare - just income for the National League from television money.

We should not have expected the National league to even have considered the welfare of players and supporters considering the line they took on Covid, to the point that clubs who put the wellbeing of their staff first were actually fined by the league for doing so!

You really have to question where the National league sit in regards to Health and Safety considering what the HASAWA (Health and Safety at Work Act) 1974 states: -

Section 2(1) It shall be the duty of every employer to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of all his employees.

Section 3(1) It shall be the duty of every employer to conduct his undertaking in such a way as to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that persons not in his employment who may be affected thereby are not thereby exposed to risks to their health or safety.

So as long as the clubs have voiced their concerns and the National league has come back and said play at 3:00 in 35 deg C temperature’s, then if anything adversely happens (i.e. a player/supporter collapses and dies due to the environment the National League has forced upon them) the National League could find themselves being prosecuted under either of the above sections of the HASAWA 1974, up to and including Corporate Manslaughter which could lead to a custodial sentence for the Directors of the National League.

Weather a few drinks breaks is “reasonably practical” to offset the risk the players are being put under would need to be up to the courts to decide.

From a layman’s perspective, most games are played at an average temperature between 5-15 deg C, and the players come off sweating having taken fluids during the game.  Tomorrow’s game is likely to be played at a temperature 20-30 deg C hotter than the average game temperature – I am not sure I will be comfortable just standing for 2 hours in what is being forecast tomorrow.

Whilst I find the National League website poor, it should be noted that every league is playing it's matches at the normal kick off times on Saturday 13th August.

Ahead of the 2021/2 football season commencing, the Football Association issued the following guidance :-

Its unclear if he collapsed due to the heat or if it was to do with two players clashing heads a few mins earlier.

Correction - he was not one of those two players who clashed heads.

However it looks like he is making a good recovery.

So it looks like the measures the National League put in place may not have been adequate?

Full credit to both teams for playing in that heat.

Both sides looked toothless until the first real bit of quality from a George Wells cross found the head of Elliott Benyon to give us the lead.

Unfortunately as per quite a few times last season we failed to hold onto the lead giving away a really poor equalizer.

On actual play a draw was a fair result but given we took the lead and the manner of the equalizer it was two points tossed away.
