Well, it's taken 879 days, but finally I returned to the footballing fraternity and I wasn't disappointed. Chose this as I remember coming here in the FA Cup with Leighton in 2015 and remarking on how neat and tidy the ground was. And it still is, although I suspect the hedge behind the dugout is a lot lower than it was. It did occur to me at some point that it was exactly six years to the day that they came to la ferme du cloche and exacted their revenge but after today I can forgive them for that.
Programmes and hot food are a bit hit and miss at this level, but on both accounts NSR delivered. Admittedly the programme is a bit basic, but very well presented and at least they still make the effort. Burgers and hot dogs are advertised as well as filled baguettes but as I'd already eaten I did not partake. Chips also seem to be available but are not priced.
Another seemingly unintentional plus point is the way the ground's laid out as the sun is behind the covered areas affording plenty of shade and the trees bordering the car park meant the car was nice and cool as well.
As for the game, it wasn't exactly a classic but there were no problems and the Referee allowed it to flow very well. NSR scored on 25, doubled it on 50 and never seemed in any remote danger, LT did pull one back as we went into added time to the delight of absolutely no-one except their Manager.
I shall return on hopefully several occasions this season.
