East Berkshire FC

Stealing an idea from another thread...

I get the feeling that none of us would want to support a merged club. But what if...?

There was a suggestion that Maidenhead, Burnham, Slough and Windsor could merge to form a 'super' club with the maximum fanbase for the area.

I realised the obvious name for this club would be 'East Berkshire FC', which is rather boring.

So what alternative name could we use?

How about "Slough, Windsor, Iver, Farnham and Taplow FC" (SWIFT FC) ?

Or...?

Of course!

My apologies to our readers from Burnham (in Buckinghamshire) and all points north of Slough

But "Come on you Thames Valley-ers!" - really doesn't have a ring to it, does it?.

["Come on Slough Town!" - much better...]

Yeah merging with Reading would get us right back up there among the elite !! And they've got a nice stadium.... seats could do with a colour change to amber though...

'Come on Valley'

'Come on Valley'

Erm... no.

But this would have a nice ring to it...

'One team in Berkshire

There's only one team in Berkshire'....

The kit of the merged team would be:

Red Yellow Green Blue.

We would also miss the excitement of many a local derby

I wouldn't go to see Slough play at MK Dons on point of principle and in solidarity with AFC Wimbledon, who we could be playing next year if we don't reach the top six.

Fingers crossed that Franchise FC will be out of business by next season.

Anyway, enough of this merger nonsense - let's get back to talking about the real issues such as the tea at..(ok i'll shut up)

Seemingly not. There were nine entries this year for the cup:

Chesham

Wycombe

Marlow

Bracknell

Burnham

Aylesbury

Windsor

Maidenhead

Slough

I presume the CCL isn't high enough for the senior cup otherwise Beaconsfield (They're Berks/Bucks??) would also be in there?

From whayt I can see, Sycob and other teams from Level 8 and below play in the Senior Trophy whilst teams such as ourselves from Level 7 up play in the Senior Cup. If there were more teams in the cup it would mean more matches to cram into an already pretty busy season and I think that would demean the cup rather than become bigger.
