Stealing an idea from another thread...

 

I get the feeling that none of us would want to support a merged club. But what if...?

 

There was a suggestion that Maidenhead, Burnham, Slough and Windsor could merge to form a 'super' club with the maximum fanbase for the area.

I realised the obvious name for this club would be 'East Berkshire FC', which is rather boring.

 

So what alternative name could we use?

 

How about "Slough, Windsor, Iver, Farnham and Taplow FC" (SWIFT FC) ?

 

Or...?

Yes all of us would like to see 600-800 attendances but we know that STFC can do this on its own if, and it's a big if, we can get back to the elite of non-league football.

That would be great, provided they bother to enter of course. I'm assuming the Berks & Bucks FA would do everything they can to get them to, considering they are technically in Bucks?

Well they didn't exactly do a good job getting Reading to enter and with only nine teams, it's hardly a major competition.

 

Would be great to have them in there though and draw them at their place.

I wouldn't go to see Slough play at MK Dons on point of principle and in solidarity with AFC Wimbledon, who we could be playing next year if we don't reach the top six.

Fingers crossed that Franchise FC will be out of business by next season.

Anyway, enough of this merger nonsense - let's get back to talking about the real issues such as the tea at..(ok i'll shut up)

why are we even discussing this if the club's merge that's it, slough town fc will only exist in history, not in the present.

Gary, one more point about the B&B Cup - what about teams like Reading Town in the CCL? They're a senior club aren't they? Do they enter the competition?

Seemingly not. There were nine entries this year for the cup:

 

Chesham

Wycombe

Marlow

Bracknell

Burnham

Aylesbury

Windsor

Maidenhead

Slough

 

I presume the CCL isn't high enough for the senior cup otherwise Beaconsfield (They're Berks/Bucks??) would also be in there?

I would have thought getting as many senior local clubs as possible to enter would be the ideal, to make the whole thing more meaningful.

From whayt I can see, Sycob and other teams from Level 8 and below play in the Senior Trophy whilst teams such as ourselves from Level 7 up play in the Senior Cup. If there were more teams in the cup it would mean more matches to cram into an already pretty busy season and I think that would demean the cup rather than become bigger.
