I thought I would mention it as no one else has!

Fantastic performance throughout the whole tournament, and great, wonderful support for all the matches.

I hope our own womens team get a real boost from this through either additional FA funding or bigger attendances.

Curtis, I made this post about three hours ago under the "v Arsenal" thread as I was highlighting how a team of heroes sees a continuous increase in interest and support as did the Slough Boys team of the 1975/6 season :-

"Yesterday, many of us Forum Members were amongst the 17.4 million people who watched the Women's Euros 2022 Final, televised from Wembley Stadium before an excited 87,210 crowd. A team of heroes ... every match they played, more and more people wanted to see the next match.

Personally, I felt as excited before the match as I did before the 1966 World Cup Final.

The Wembley crowd of 87,210 yesterday compared with 2,567 at Kenilworth Road, Luton for the second leg of the 1984 final of the same competition."

Each to their own but I must be in the minority, as I haven't watched any women's matches bar a few highlights on the news and think people will watch any old rubbish these days, and will jump on any bandwagon if told or coaxed to !

Of course, women should be allowed to play any sport they like but who's really making profits out of this?

We're in a cost of living crisis and our NHS and local doctor's surgeries are going down the pan.....And what are we being marketed on - the benefits of women's football !

Still, I'm all for women football players taking their shirts off to celebrate ! ha ha ha !

3spirit : You posted "people will watch any old rubbish these days".

England Women and several of the other teams played outstanding football with very high levels of both energy and skill.

I accept that my wording was off kilter in a way but the amount of what I regard as rubbish coming out of my television screen increases with every week that goes by but 'one man's medicine is another man's poison' so I'm open minded as to what some people enjoy as entertainment on their tv set.

As I never watched whole matches featuring the ladies I cannot tell you if they played 'outstanding football with very high levels of energy and skill' or not but that wasn't the message I was trying to convey.

I've turned my television on three times in 2022.

YouTube hardly goes a day without my watching a few things that interest me. I invariably watch television programmes on my computer as I can watch them "live" or click "go back to start" if I'm a little late.

Apparently it’s the over 75’s that have been in the minority & the least interested in the Women’s Euros.
