Am I right in saying that we no longer have a Lady Rebels team?

A difficult question!

On 6th June 2022 the team were looking for a manager :-

"We are seeking a manager for our Slough Town Rebels ladies team ahead of the new season.

Slough Town Rebels play in the Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League (TVCWFL) Division 3, with home matches on Sundays at Arbour Park.

This is a voluntary role. Interested applicants should contact Kay Lathey via email: gensec@sloughtownfc.net"

But there is no mention anywhere of the 2022/3 season on any Facebook page or website relating to the Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League.

RIGHT.

The Ladies side was asked to go into the Southern Regions, and we said yes BUT,

Because of not knowing what the future of both Ladies teams was nearly all the Ladies (first team) side left.

Some because  of moving home, some because other clubs were offering free signing on fees, some because of having to change training nights.

So we were left with only 4 or 5 Ladies (first team) left, The Rebels ( reserve team) also was depleted for the same reasons, but we had 7 or 8 that stayed.

We declined the change to Southern, but excepted promotion to Div 1 Thames Valley. The The Rebels side was disbanded.  So we only have 1 team (Ladies) now.

It's going to be hard as most of the team will be jumping up 2 divisions,  but with a few new additions we could hold our own.

ON A SIDE NOTE..

Other teams have gone down to 1 team but did it the other way. Disbanding the first team and kept the reserve team with a lot of first team player dropping down 3 or 4 divisions.

Our first league game is against our friends from Banbury (not) away on Sunday 4th September,  our FA Cup adventure starts the following Sunday v Milton United home on the 11th September, who play in the Southern Regions League 1 North.

We had 2 trial games to try new player out with the minimum first or reserve player as possible.

We had our first friendly with most of the new side (2 form last years first team,7 from the reserves and 5 new players.

We still had a couple of last years player away.

The game was against a div 3 side Guildford Saints.

We came away from there with a 7-0 win, but they were depleted, only 12 players.

GOALS FROM,

Tia (newby)×2, Alice, Marena, Daisy (newby), Laura (newby), and finally Aimee.

There is a difference with Ladies wanting to play football and the quality of player able to hold their own at the standard required for the team.

As Epic rebels states there seems to be a general shift down in standard of player available. We may find a better player wants to join the Slough Ladies team.

It is also a question of economics. As I understand it many teams expect the players to contribute to the playing expenses and with the current climate and what is forecast players will find this more difficult.

The real legacy would be if the FA filtered some of the money they made from the Euros into non league ladies teams.
