They also paid £5,000 to Flackwell Heath so their reserves could play there and are employing a groundsman at probably the best part of a grand a month so THAT is where your money has and will have gone.

You should be grateful you can still play games within reasonable distance of the town.....Windsor were under no obligation to put Slough up.

And who says we are not greatful,we are VERY greatful, as we have stated many times, but as we have paid the money i believe we have the right to speculate and create a discussion on where that money has gone.

What about the other £19,000? We are happy to have a temporary home but please remember we paid for the privilege. There has been no charity from Windsor. I believe we had a cheaper option at Harrow. But don't get me wrong I would much rather be at Windsor than there. But I would much rather be in Slough.

Yeah just read that, doh.

The pitch is excellent, not sure what the other ground improvements have been though.

Only another £11,000 to find.

The following extract answers many of the questions about Slough's ground-share rent...

Quote:
Many Slough Town fans share the belief that the club's rent to share Stag Meadow (£25,000) has funded signings like Scott and Jason Cousins but Mr Simpson insisted that was not the case.

"We owed it to both sides to have a decent pitch and so invested in getting a groundsman and renovating the stadium to make it an OEA¹ grading," he said.

"We spent £8,000 on the pitch alone (and paying rent to Flackwell Heath for reserve games). Any money for transfers has had to be raised separately. None of the Slough money has gone into the playing fund.

"However next season we will not be needing improvement work on the ground and if the same deal exists then it could go to strengthening the squad."

From an Interview with WEFC Chairman, Peter Simpson

News story: 'Simpson: We need 400 fans' - WEFC website (original source www.thisiswindsor.com) - 24 Jan 2004

I think we can be grateful that Windsor have provided us with a home, and have spent our ground rent in a way that benefits us too.

The last paragraph is more worrying: '...if the same deal exists...'.

Does this suggest that Slough might not be playing there, or simply indicate Mr Simpson's concern that he might not get the money from Mr Deaner (considering his track record)?

I feel that if we are paying the same amount next year, Windsor should at least be looking at providing shelters behind the goals. This might also help Windsor attract more of the 400 fans they are looking for. (They could probably afford some fancy teabags too ).

Very easy to name a stand as it costs nothing, building a stand is another matter though!

Planning permission is in place for a stand at the car park end and, when finances permit, it will be built.

People seem to forget that 12 months ago they were standing on grass banks or ash terracing, the works for the 'A' grade certainly wasn't paid for out of gate receipts.

I have a grudging admiration for STSC as they have the ability to get people willing to raise funds to support their club.

Just to pick up on the teabags comments as well, if there was a problem did you actually tell anyone in the tea bar? There may have been a problem they were unaware of on the day! So far I think that there has been a very good working relationship with the officials from both clubs (much different to our last groundshare!) and I would like to think that instead of moaning on a website you could actually tell someone about any problems you may have so we can work to put things right! And no, I can't suddenly build 200 extra car-parking spaces before you ask. LOL.

Cover behind the car parking end would have been fantastic and I would hope that if we're still on the £25k deal next season that would go toward putting at least some cover up behind the goal. Certainly would add a lot to creating an atmosphere at the ground as with two open ends, the noise does tend to filter away rather than echo onto the pitch.

Steve r, you must forgive us Slough fans who had not visited Stag Meadow prior to this season. You must think us quite ungrateful for comparing the ground as it is now to other non-league grounds (eg Wexham Park), rather than congratulating you on the improvements at Windsor.

PJ, those comments were aimed more at WEFC fan's post but did, I hope, also explain to Slough fans where some of the £25,000 went to, even if the work was done upfront without any guarantees of the money ever arriving.

Anyway let's forget about money, grounds, mergers, etc, and deal with major problems like sorting out the tea-bags which seems to have the utmost importance to some people!

I could have sworn that Windsor had terracing the last time we were there when DJ Zepherin had a nightmare i.e before we paid them any rent.
