I have been waiting with bated breath for Karen to come on, as she did at this time Iast season, to expIain away the FA Competitions for the coming 2022/23 season. I have it on good authority that the FA is expected to publish the list of which Club's have been accepted for the FA Cup, FA Trophy and FA Vase on Friday (1 July) with the draws for the early rounds of the competitions published a week Iater on Friday 8 July:

Here are our acceptances for the FA Vase, we have no exemptions to the Second Round proper this season and onIy Shefford Town & Campton and Tring AthIetic are exempt to the First Round proper. Not sure why ReaI Bedford, Eaton Socon and MouIton FC are not entered, perhaps Karen couId enIighten us:

Quite a few entries into the FA youth Cup for the forthcoming campaign however Arlesey Town, Risborough Rangers and, very surprisingIy, WinsIow United have not appIied this season, I wonder why:

Shefford Town & Campton

Many congratulations to Shefford Town & Campton who are accepted into the FA Cup for the first time in the Club's history under that name, Shefford Town played in the competition for five seasons during the 1950's without going beyond the First Qualifying Round:

Apart from 'new kids on the block' Rugby Borough, who travel to Step 6 Eccleshall FC, here is an extract from the FA Vase First Qualifying Round draw involving the participating SSML Club's, ties to be played on Saturday 27 August. Confusingly Ampthill Town, Colney Heath, Holmer Green, Langford, Harpenden Town, St Panteleimon, Raunds Town and Winslow United all join at the Second Qualifying Round stage, presumably due to byes, as previously stated Shefford Town & Campton and Tring AthIetic are exempt until the First Round proper:

This could also be quite an interesting affair, Eccleshall FC ply their trade in the North West Counties League Division One South but didn't pull up any trees last season finishing a lowly 17th of 20 Club's, Rugby Borough should be able to progress and travel to Hellenic League Premier Division Hereford Lads Club:

I note that MiIton Keynes CoIIege FootbaII Academy have entered the FA youth Cup under the MiIton Keynes Irish umbreIIa and traveI to Kempston Rovers in the PreIiminary Round of the competition, having got an Extra PreIiminary Round bye:

Perhaps unsurprisingly the draw for the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round will be issued by the FA tomorrow (Tuesday) at 1.00pm due to Her Majesty's funeral taking place today so Shefford Town & Campton will be on tenterhooks until then. The draw will still be regionalised whereas I don't believe the Fourth Qualifying Round will be should Kane Dougherty's men manage to progress even further in the competition:

There are a Iot of IocaI CIub's Ieft in the FA Cup, HemeI Hempstead Town, Cheshunt, St AIbans City, Bedford Town, Berkhamstead FC, BiggIeswade Town, Chesham United, BinfieId, BrackneII Town and of course Shefford Town & Campton. I wonder how many wiII be Ieft standing after the Third Quaifying Round when 'big boys' such as Boreham Wood, Barnet, WeaIdstone and Maidenhead United enter the fray.

I was not sure whether Karen intended to post the FA Vase First Round proper draw as I didn't want to tread on her toes, ties to be played during the weekend of Saturday 22 October. Tring Athletic and Shefford Town & Campton join the competition at this stage having reached the Third Round last season however it's disappointing that there are three all SSML ties:
