It's hard to say what my preferred starting 11 is, as good players will have to be left out and of course, you need to see who is playing well in pre-season. With the squad we now have I think I would go with a 3-5-2 but that won't happen in real life,as Bakes and Unders prefer 4 defenders at the back.

Anyway my team would be

                                                          North

                                           Hollis      Togwell    Pruti

                              Jackman     Hunt  Kuhl   Lench    Wells 

                                                 Goddard   Benyon

Subs: Dandy,Davies,George, Kayani, Dobson.

To be honest, you are right as the squad is full of options [except upfront]. I picked a 3-5-2 as I felt Lee Togwell should be in the team but then realised that I'm playing wing backs, when Bakes and Unders have signed wingers!

In all likelihood Bakes and Unders preferred formation is the 4-4-2 but of course now they tinker with diamond shapes and 5 men across midfield, etc.

I wasn’t basing my question on who’s fit or in form, just a general if we were playing our first league game who would you pick from our current squad.

The players that would be my definite starters:

North, Jackman, Wells, Pruti, Hollis, Goddard, Kuhl and Benyon.

If Matt Lench has a good pre season and is anywhere near back to his best he would be one of my definite starters.

Again if Dobbo is flying in pre season I don't see how he could be left out of our first game starting 11.

I think we will mainly be using a 4-5-1 or 4-1-4-1 formations and then switching between a 4-4-2 and a 3-5-2 depending on who our opponents are or game situation.

I’m also hoping we’re taking a look at some trialists during pre-season training and matches and maybe unearth a gem. Maybe some step 4 strikers who scored a bag full last season will be given a chance.

I would say certain positions are guaranteed and others are up for grabs and will be determined by pre season performances and what formation we go with for the first game.

I would say the following players are guaranteed starters (at least to start the season unless they have howlers!).

North, Wells, Jackman, Hollis, Dobson, Kuhl, Goddard, Benyon.

Dobbo has been off injured for a season so I would say there is a question mark over him.

I think Pruti is a given.
