Dobbo returns!

GlenSTFC got it right, Dobbo is back. Two positive signings today, and our team is shaping up nicely.

James Dobson is an exciting creative player who scores goals, what's not to like about that?  Good at free kicks but his prowess at making something happen with his running and ball skills is exactly what our team need. Now we need a find a very able left back to replace Freddie Grant, and a half decent striker to put the ball in the net [if we haven't got them already].

Not forgetting an experienced center back to go alongside youngsters Pruti and Dandy (very likely to be Guy Hollis) and a central midfielder if Aaron Kuhl leaves.

There's no way imo you can shuffle the pack and still not miss the quality that Kuhl brings to the team.

Happy with this signing. All ifs and buts I guess but if Dobbo can recapture the form from his last spell with us then it’ll turn out to be a very astute signing. Just need that experienced prolific striker to bang in Dobbo’s crosses! Pretty certain Hollis will be unveiled too which depending on his availability/work situation will be another solid signing and we all know exactly what to expect. Persuade Wellsy to return, sign that top striker and get Aaron on contract and bang!

I would rather go for another striker with Aaron Kuhl's money, if he decides to leave. I'm sure Bakes and Unders will know plenty of centre midfielders they can acquire over the season but to start the season with our front line desperately needs an overhaul. Centre midfield I don't view with the same panic,as our squad could cope without Aaron Kuhl especially with Guy Hollis back and the chance to move Lee Togwell out into midfield, though that isn't the only option we have at our disposal.

Lee Togwell was moved into midfield at the back end of last season when the Pruti, Dandy partnership started and I can see the same happening at the start of next season with the possible exception of Guy Hollis (if he signs) as one of our center backs.

Just a thought, but didn’t James Dobson start his football career as a left back? And with him now being 30 & soon to be 31 is it possible that might be his most effective position for us?

He played there for Aylesbury at 1 stage in step 4 Curtis and I'm sure he'll be the first to say he isn't the best there (trying to be politically correct?). Only way it could work to a point if the managers are going to go completely off script and play a 3-5-2 / 5-3-2 where you have Dobbo and Josh Jackman playing wide. Seems unlikely though.

I can remember at Holloway's Park when we were short playing Dobbo at full back and he did ok.

I think we kept him at full back for another game or two and it turned out to be a bit of a disaster.

Not sure if he was a left back in his younger day's but for now I think the safest option is for him to carry on attacking the opponents goal.

He played for Chesham at left back, too but I wouldn't say he looked comfortable playing there. As he's also been out injured last season, and mainly because of his attacking prowess and threat going forward, I think it would be daft to put him in a full back role. Maybe in a one off emergency match but not throughout the season  but each to their own, Curtis, if your fantasy Slough team wants Dobbo as a left back, you have him ! ha ha !
