Now that our managers have announced what's happening, in regards to the players being kept, and the ones undecided, and ones being invited to pre-season/under 23's and all, I thought it would be better to start a separate thread on the subject.

I'm surprised Jonathan North hasn't signed yet. I hope he does. Disappointed we didn't firm up an offer for Kurtis Cumberbatch,as thought he had done enough to be included this season. Glad we have invited Ryan Bird to pre-season to prove his fitness,he deserves his chance to be included, as to my mind he hasn't let us down since he signed for the Rebels[defensive wise], although unfortunately I can't say he proved his worth upfront !

On Aaron Kuhl, it's no surprise he's stalling as lots of clubs will be interested in him. If he decides to leave, that's his choice. Slough will have to cope without him if he does, and to my mind; will.

On the one or two familiar faces, I hope Guy Hollis is one, and I wouldn't mind if the other was Mark Nisbet as he is a proven defender and can cover a number of positions across the back line and is a good egg squad wise, and knows what Slough are about. If it isn't him,who else could it be? I suppose it could be Max Worsfold, who would certainly be worth getting back in,as we are short of players on the left and we know he can do a decent job there.

Anyone else come to mind?

I wonder if we can get a deal with Oxford United for Tyler Goodrham and Leon Chambers- Parillion sorted out, too?

I’m sure one of them will be Hollis, can’t see Worsfold coming back as he only just announced he was staying at Leatherhead. Neither I doubt it will it be Nisbet, I’m thinking it could be the return of Dobbo?

I prefer Dobbo to Max, so that would be great. I hope you are right on this.

Comparing Max to Dobbo is not straight-forward as their qualities are different but on Dobbo he is an exciting player to watch and can turn around a game, and if he does come back I'm sure a lot of fans will be thrilled seeing him back in our team. Certainly a crowd pleaser/favourite.

Not surprised but concerned Aaron hasn’t signed yet. It could mean he has other offers (quite likely) or he’s negotiating for better wages. For me he’s our best player and I think vital we keep as we won’t be able to afford to sign someone of the same ability. Regarding North surprised he hasn’t signed up but maybe he’s had offers too or just wants a better deal. If it came down to it I’d rather lose him than Aaron. So depending on these 2 decisions I guess we’re looking to sign at least 5 new players?

Of the games I saw last season Aaron Kuhl was excellent in them and he looked a quality player and I agree he was our best player often, so it will be a huge blow if he leaves us but as good as he is, I think we will cope without him in centre midfield.

On the goalkeeper situation, I view it differently. I want Jonathan North to stay with our team,as it is better for continuity and the defence to know how a goalkeeper reacts and what he does in commanding his box and how he thinks, which takes time for a defence to learn, and know how to read the incumbent's goalie's game. We lost Jack Turner who had been an ever present, and it took a while for Jonathan North to bed into our side, so for me I see him being a vital component this season, knowing that he can do a good job in this division, has the trust of our players, and with the changes we are making it would be better to have his experience/know how around, rather than bring a new face between the sticks in, and have to reallign all over again.

Wells would be an awesome re-signing but I just can’t see it.

As for Aaron Kuhl and Jon North negotiating for higher pay I reckon it must be beyond that stage by now.

It's all guess work but I'd think we've given them our best offer and they are taking their time to consider as well as other offers on the table which they are entitled to do.

As long as his work situation allows I reckon Guy Hollis is a shoe in to come back.

As for Dobbo it probably depends on what system we are going to play.

We went narrow last season which kept Max Worsfold out of the side which eventually lead to him leaving.

Possible but he'd have to take a big hit on his wages.

We'd cope but only if we signed the right player to replace him.

Interesting RR, I think Dobbo would be more than capable of playing at the point of a Midfield diamond. Good vision, excellent passing range, brilliant dead ball player (which we have missed) and after a few injuries and him getting older, probably isn't the out and out winger he used to be.

I’m sure by now one or both of our managers would have dismissed out of hand if either Wells or Dobbo wasn’t coming back…

I'm also sure that both of them have got lives outside of this forum!

I disagree, I believe we can adapt how we play to suit the players we do have. I think we will bring another centre midfield player in, if Aaron Kuhl does leave but I can see plenty of options with the players we do have. And to start the season with, we may not chase after another midfielder straight away especially if we have Leon Chambers Parillion back with us,too.
