He wasn’t good enough 3spirit, if he was our excellent managers would’ve kept him and rightly let him seek other opportunities.

13 goals in 56 appearances, 1 goal in 4 roughly, nowhere near good enough!

CR, how can you say that, when he's joined a higher team !

Look, in his first season he was good. Stepping up from Windsor fc, I thought he was a great signing and proved he wasn't overawed with standard of football being played, in fact he fitted right on in.

In the Covid season with no crowds,it is hard to judge any player, or team come to that. I went along with our manager's decision, that Dan hadn't cut it and hadn't been giving it his all, and I wasn't overly surprised when Dan left but for me he has plenty of attributes to his game that makes him a worthwhile prospect going forward. Steve King,a proven top non league manager, must have thought so, as he wouldn't have signed him for Dartford.

Those goal statistics don't read fantastic but they hide what the player is capable of. I think you are judging Dan Roberts too harshly,as in another team he is just as likely to find the net often but I'm not a fortune teller and cannot say for definite what will be for him but I do think you under estimate him.

Not sure how we can assume that it was our managers decision because he didn't 'cut it' and hadn't been giving his all.

I think it would more likely be down to his demands for more money when Dartford made their approach.

You might be right, RR but that was what I got told at the time.

You could well be right then 3spirit.

The word after he left was that he was getting above his station thinking he was bbb.

He used to make me laugh when he walked and strutted about the pitch at Arbour Park. I'm sure he thought he was a man mountain ! ha ha! I always thought a gust of wind would blow him over ! ? However, that belief in one's self at a young age can be beneficial in taking long strides in whatever field of work/sport you're in but eventually someone or something blows a hole in your sails. I wonder if he still struts about now he's at Dartford [ considering his form in the last two seasons at Dartford and Slough] ?

Higher team??? Same Division??? Dartford are not a higher then in my opinion.

We’ll agree to disagree!

A bit of a surprise in the National North as the final is:-

York (5th) v Boston (7th)

And Boston did the double over York in the league fixtures.

Really surprised York even made the play offs, thought they were very poor for a full time outfit when we played them

I would like to think that most members of this forum take a general interest in National League North and South football.

I will be following Dorking Wanderers v Ebbsfleet United and York City v Boston United on Saturday with the same level of interest that I have shown in Maidstone United winning National League South this season.

York City had their ticket allocation at Brackley Town reduced to 600 last Saturday because of trouble at their home play-off against Chorley. Ahead of the final, York City FC have announced :-

"We would like to make supporters aware that after a meeting with the York Safety Advisory Group (SAG), which comprises of the City of York Council and Fire, Police and Ambulance services, we have unfortunately been restricted to a capacity of 7,500 due to the damage to the stadium, pyrotechnics and pitch encroachment against Chorley on Wednesday evening."
