Sean Fraser

Saddened to hear he's  calling time on his great 10 years with the Rebels at the seasons end

Wants more family time and still deciding if he wants to continue playing

A great servant of the club and I'm sure we all wish him well in the future

A testimonial match will be arranged  I'll be there and I hope most of you will

With the announcement of Sean’s departure, looking through our squad list I’m not sure there’s many others I can predict leaving? I’m not including any of the U23’s as I’m sure they’d all be retained or if not they’d just slot back into the U23’s. We obviously need strikers, I’d say 2 ideally proven at this level but that’s probably not realistic, so hopefully 1 and 1 more from a level or two below but who has scored a few this season. I know everyone loves Ben even though he can’t give a full season so I’d be surprised if he left or was released. None of the other ‘senior’ players I can see being released but i guess if we want to bring some in then some will need to depart, be interesting to see what pans out.

Unfortunately and very much Slough's loss I really cannot see Aaron Kuhl staying another season.

I hope I'm wrong because how do you replace a player of the quality of Aaron.

I think we'd all like a fit Ben Harris to stay and lead the forward line but with the budget being tight and at least another forward required, who won't come cheap, can we afford to keep Ben?

Sean has been such a loyal servant it will seem strange not seeing him around ( and his father).

Apart from being an excellent player also a lovely person.

Obviously this had to come some time.

Can only wish him all the best for the future in whatever he decides to do and hopefully we will see him as a spectator a few times.

" once a rebel, always a rebel" has never been more apt.

You can’t blame him really, how many players would stay as a squad player for as long as Sean has? Not surprised by his decision and hopefully he’ll carry on playing as he could be a real benefit to the many local step 3 and 4 clubs.

Having seen Sean play for both Beaconsfield and Binfield this season, I'd say for him to be a regular starter, step 4 is where he would be at this point.

As for Sean's career with the Rebels, look up "team player" and there is a picture of Sean in the dictionary. Has played virtually every position for the team, never seems to complain about his squad position and never gives less than 100%. What more as a STFC player could you want.

Already looking forward to 10th July and to be able to give Sean the send off he deserves.

I would certainly place Aaron as one of our top 3 players and if lost him (is he on contract?) then that would be a massive dent in any ambitions we have for next season. He’s our engine and playmaker and we definitely need to keep him but I could also see bigger step 2 and possibly some step 1 clubs being interested in securing his services.

I would hope we've got him on a contract because for sure scouts will have been sniffing around.

All the best to Sean Fraser, in his life, and what football path he decides to take. He's been a great servant to our club, and he will not be short of offers from other clubs for his services. He's well deserving of a testimonial and I hope to be there.

I disagree with you here,SloughFlyer. I wouldn't write him off like that. If I was Gary McCann at a club like Hampton and Richmond FC and was looking for a good utility squad player to complement the squad selection I have, then I would take a chance on a player like Sean. Just because he doesn't quite fit into Bakes and Unders thinking for Slough's future, doesn't mean that other Conference South managers should write him off. Knowing his circumstances, though, I would say a Step 3 side like Marlow or Beaconsfield would suit him, and those clubs down to the ground and would be a great acquistion for a local club like that. At Step 3, I wouldn't necessarily play him as a full back, and could easily be a regular starter.

The stage Sean is at in his football career if he was to carry on playing I would have thought he would want to be a regular starter as much as possible.

In my view Sean playing at step 3 or 4 would give him that opportunity.

Sad to see Sean go but I guess not a huge surprise. I would have love to see him get the 12 more appearances to catch up with John Beyer (another great defender) and go 7th on the all time list. Looking at Neil's post he's likely to figure on Saturday and captain the team on Monday so he'll get to 8th. What a contribution he has made!

I’ll be sad to see Sean go, one of my favourite players. He’s one of those old fashioned steady full backs that give you a 7/10 performance every week.
Looking at Twitter, he’s replied to every single message which also tells you the type of person he is.
Hope he gets the turn out he deserves for his testimonial.

3 Spirit it is Sean’s decision to leave as he has a young family and would like to be able to spend more time with them without the commitment of a club like ours, and if he went to play anywhere then it would be to play and not be a squad player.

Thanks for clarifying that, Neil. Sorry if I inferred something else.

I know Sean a little bit [and of his family commitments] so wish him well whatever he decides. I hope he carries on playing,as in my opinion he still has a lot to offer a club, and can be under rated in what he brings to a team. He's bound to be chuffed with all the praise he's getting,as to me he is a quiet unassuming guy, almost shy at times, and isn't a player used to plaudits so he's well deserving of all this praise. I thought he played very well when he came on yesterday against Dartford, and I wish he had started ! ha ha!

Given his age and the demands of the Conference South, and where he is with his family, and his position within the Slough squad, it feels the right time for him to lessen his burden of playing high standard non-league football but that said I can't see him not playing somewhere else, as football has been a large chunk of his life, and I can't see a bloke like that stepping away from football completely, just yet.

Good luck to him and his family, whatever he does.
