I wonder whether Richard Pacquette can upset the New Salamis apple cart and do Risborough Rangers a favour:

A groundhopper from another Forum is quick out of the traps:

Spartan South Midlands League Division Two
New Bradwell St Peter 0-2 Old Bradwell United

Admission free, Attendance 60
Venue: New Bradwell Recreation Ground - In the North of Milton Keynes, this is a 3/4 railed pitch with a stand on a public playing field. New Bradwell (the original club) have played Step 5 but were relegated due to ground grading issues in the mid 2000's, which is obvious to see today, as the ground is not enclosed and it would be quite difficult to do so. The pitch overlaps with the cricket pitch, hence the lack of railings in one corner. There is a unique main stand which provided covered bench seating. The social club was open and well used today. Well kept ground to be fair, a nice environment to watch football.
Game - The local visitors were the superior team today in defence and attack. I would argue the home team had the better midfield. The issue for the home team is that the front 3 did nothing all game, and the defence would just play sloppy balls out of the back. Old Bradwell are organised and have a few ex step 5/6 players such as Darryl Smith who was playing for Newport Pagnell earlier this season. A few tasty challenges from both sides but I think the referee and his officials were excellent today and got everything correct. A deserved win for the away side.

The first of six relatively meaningless games saw Jets and Arlesey share the spoils in the sunshine.

Not a great game certainly not helped a) by the bone hard pitch and its uneven bounce (if it had been a Test match it would have been abandoned, some kept low, some resembled Loftus Road in the 80s) and b) by the horrendous referee; both sides had the same complaints in the clubhouse. Among a litany of howlers a particular low point came in the first half when 2 Jets players clashed trying to head the same ball, which the official somehow decided was worthy of awarding the hosts a drop ball (from which they rather unsportingly launched an attack).

Arlesey hit the post twice but didn't score until early in the second half, the one real moment of quality saw their 8 outmuscle Sean Giordmaina on the left and cut into midfield where he threaded a great ball into the striker. Jets woes in front of goal continue and they only troubled the scorers courtesy of an own goal, Jake Tibor guilty of missing an open goal soon after. A good point for us, Arlesey will probably feel it was 2 dropped but in the scheme of things neither will be that bothered.

With 2 suspensions and other absences to first teamers for the last pair of home games of the campaign next week Kevin Christou will have to shuffle what is a pretty threadbare pack. I expect Dunstable and Hadley will be licking their lips at the prospect.

So what exactly did the Referee do wrong here?

Everything since you ask, he didn't put a foot right! One of those who's been watching too much Match of the Day and dreaming he could do it. Would you award the opposition a drop ball if 2 players from the other team clashed heads? No foul was committed so why should the opposition get an advantage? Denied us a stonewall pen as well, sent Onome to the bin for having the temerity to ask politely why a legitimate challenge was given as a foul against him, it was one thing after another.
