ETFC Sunday morning

Recommended Posts

Three new team members to compliment 4 regulars. A bit of a Dad's Army. We even had a Pike, but I'm not going to tell you his name!

We made good progress concreting chunks of path here and there.

Brimo have put a roof on the turnstiles and the Tony Ashall Memorial Stand. Not that a roof last night would have helped in the driving rain (straight in your face)!

Let me explain, the "stand" behind the dug outs has been nicknamed in certain quarters, "the bus shelter", Why ? I hear you ask, well for the last two seasons it has provided as much protection from the elements, it has been vandalised, and allegedy in the past load of yobs hung around it ( last part probably not changed!)

so it's a bus shelter - oh yeah and no buses stop there, another good reason.

We could always ask Stagecoach to sponsor it!

It actually called the "Cowshed" not the "Bus Shelter". I have no idea why it is called that either.

Today's team was far better than yesterday's.

We had team work.

Solid Foundations were laid.

Concrete evidence is now on show for all to see that individuals can work together.

To Compound it all, we had two young females join us today and did just as much work as the rest of us.

We had a half time interval when tactics were discussed when too many individuals wanted to get stuck in.

In other words - the compound walkway has now been concreted and should be ready for Tuesday(depends on the weather)

The players walkway to the changing rooms is now complete.

There is still a lot to do so we still need people to turn up on a Sunday morning. I think it's a 9.30am start next week as Arsenal and Chelsea are on the telly at 12.30pm. Don't forget the 10.00am start on Wednesdays.

By the way, the game was like all the stuff around the site at the moment - rubbish!

I got stick for saying midweek it was a Dads Army, and I was proved wrong with 16 people including 2 daughters and 1 grandson. 3 new people joined us today - thank you.

Jim has promised that if the performances on the pitch don't improve he'll get the players to join us on the construction work. Let's hope he doesn't need to.

Proud to be part of a successful team.

another enjoyable morning's work. Great to see so much change. But word of warning. If you can only come to the games, you will not have seen all the work that has gone on. But believe me there have been tonnes of eath moved and concrete laid; and we've had fun along the way.

ps Wednesday seesion has been moved to Thursday.
