A great mornings work from our team of 14.

One group mixing concrete, One laying the concrete, One breaking and laying hardcore, and finally one group digging out and laying paving slabs. Awesome and we can at last see some result of our labours in tangible progress!

We were visited in our labours by Reg from Eton Manor and some players from an unmentionable team down the road who were interested in our work. Drop by and offer moral support if you like or alternatively come and work.

We ought to call it the Sunday morning fitness workout.

I'm going to need to tighten my belt soon if the weight keep reducing (with all this exercise)! I can see me toes again. Amazing - wonders will never cease! More benefits of working for the town, don't need a Gym just join Jim and the rest of us down the Brimobeu on a Sunday morning.

A tremendous amount of work has been completed by a very few, yet selective supporters of ETFC, during the last two months at Brimmo Stadium.

It's not always possible to get to the ground on a Sunday, but the same faces have been there in all weathers.

Please do not get me wrong, if we do not complete the ground works, and have everything in place by the end of March, then no matter what the team do on the pitch, we will not be going anywhere.

All we ask is that you give up some of your Sunday and meet up with us on a Sunday morning. Starting this week Roy will be on hand to welcome you on a Wednesday morning from 10.00am if you can make it. Remember, this is Roy who has been at the ground in all weathers, sometimes on his own, to get work finished. This is Roy who has worked with John to get the pitch ready for us each week. You may feel that the pitch is not up to much good, but without their efforts, we would not be playing any type of football at Brimmo.

You do not need any building skills. I should know because I do not have any myself. What you do need is the willingness to roll up your sleeves and dig, move earth, fill holes, lift slabs, lay slabs, move sand, tell jokes and enjoy the company and the odd cup of tea.

Good news from today was that we actually received cups of tea from a local resident(father of an Ex EFC Youth team player)!

We also put matters into perspective and today remembered that football and the Ryman League is not the biggest thing we need to think about, especially when we had a moments silence for the Dolleymore family.

Here's looking forward to seeing you next Sunday.

Hey, seriously we have done a helluva lot down at Brimmo, but we do need a bit more help, so go on put a date in your diary for one of the few Sundays left between now and 31-03-04, and help get our club up the pyramid.

I don't want to be an old misery guts or anything, and I know funds are limited, but given the importance of completing the work in time, would it not make sense to employ a builder to do all or part of it? From what you describe, it would probably not take more than a week or maybe two, especially all the digging for paths and whatnot - a mini-excavator would do it in a couple of hours!

Well you could have finished there. I think those of us who are down there on a regular basis would love to see a builder come in, with a JCB or mini digger and do it all; but as you said, money is limited, but commitment isn't!

My point was that the vital importance of getting the work done could be seen as making the expense worthwhile, if not necessary. If time was not of the essence then volunteer labour is justifiable, but is missing out on promotion (if applicable) worth saving a grand or two now?

Obviously the funding position is somewhat complicated as we are supposed to have grants for the work which don't seem to be coming through, for whatever reason.

They are all good ideas. However, we have been working on the area in and around the compound, referee's room and the changing rooms. We cannot get a mini digger in and we certainly cannot get a concrete mixer full of concrete to just drop the load into the trenches.

Believe me, I ask every week, but Roy has said it cannot be done and every week I have to agree with him. He is the boss!

Therefore, the work does need to be carried out by people, wheelbarrows and muscle.

We have thought about fencing off areas that we do not need to concentrate on at the moment and these areas will certainly need to be looked at in the summer months. That's when you will be asked again for your help.

What more do you want? A lager and a sun tan - all for very little!

We have certainly helped the environment because we have buried most of the hard core rubbish that we have found around the site. Just to remind people that we did not put it there in the first place.

.....if any one has a spare grand or two then, I'm sure it could be used!!

Or if any one knows a, plumber, electrician, or fencer, then they are more than welocme to come along and join in the fun and games on a Sunday morning.

(Andy - where do we get the muscles from - I haven't any!)

Maybe you can put a lot more earth on your shovel when loading up your wheelbarrow!

Had an idea!!!!

How about a 'Come to Brimmo to get fit campaign'

The more you dig the bigger the muscles! We could ask supporters to pay for the experience by undercutting the Council's charges for entry into its fitness gyms!

We will make a fortune and get the work done.
