SLOUGH TOWN v MAIDSTONE UNITED - four days to go

Saturday morning 10.00am and it's looking a lovely sunny day, hope it stays that way !

Wonder what the Slough team will be today, and what formation we will play?

Should be good to have Ben Harris back for today,if he is fit,he would be in my starting eleven for this game.

Not going to say my line up,as I'm never in tune with who our manager's choose but as this has been a long awaited fixture [well, by Shredding Green's reckoning] I'm going for a prediction of it being either 2-2 draw, or a 2-3 loss but closely fought. Now I've said that, it will more than likely turn out to be a 0-0 stalemate !

Or can we bring our 'A' game to the table and upset the odds and get another win over Maidstone?

Any guesses before the big kick off, Forum-ites?

Ben Harris not having played for some weeks is obviously not match fit but should be good to play part of the match whether it is to start or come on in the second half.

I think we will start with one up front, possibly Tenconi if he's 100% or Ben Harris and try to keep it tight with 5 across the middle of the park.

As for a score I'd go for a 2-1 win for the Rebels.

Like your positivity with the scoreline,RR, I hope you are right ! ?

When is Ben Harris really ever match fit?

I would definitely play two forwards for this game regardless of which forwards are chosen.

Just because Slough are a mid table team, we don't have to choose to play 4-5-1 at home to promotion challengers. I would rather we changed to that sort of formation later in the game,if we had managed to get two goals ahead of them [if we really needed to]. Whatever,I hope Manny Williams has given our forwards,a few innovative ideas to cause the Maidstone defence problems.

Let's hope it's a good game to watch ! We pretty much know what Slough will do,in regards to tactics but I'm interested to see how Maidstone go about their business.

A very good performance from Slough with the young attacking line causing all sorts of problems to Maidstone, and the defence holding firm.

6 points from one of the top teams?

Have to say that if I was Joe Ellul (No.4) I would be embarrassed by that performance - falling over every time a player half his size got near him!

Comfortably mid table now so safe.

Certainly a good game to watch. I am busy next week but if Rebels win at Bath City on Tuesday evening, I will hope to go to Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday afternoon.

After today's performance and win, the season certainly isn't over yet.

Excellent result and performance from the Rebels.

Good performances all round with the pick of the bunch for me being Scott Davies, Jon North, and Edon Pruti.

Not the attendance predicted with what looked around the 200 ish mark from Maidstone.

Not sure what happened to Maidstone's own predicted away support of 400/500.

I thought Slough was excellent today and worked their socks off and deservedly won the game. Both Slough goals were a delight but Josh Jackman's strike - what a wonder goal !

Agree with you,SR1965,about the Maidstone number 4 but there were a couple of others ie Gavin Hoyte [number 2] and Sam Corne [number 8] who all feigned injury and put in the worst kind of play acting you can see. All of them going down as though they were poleaxed and then making miraculous recoveries when the ref didn't award them anything. It was hilarious to watch and deeply embarassing to them. The minimum of contact and these three were falling over, limping like their leg had come off, and diving like they had been shot. It was pathetic to watch. For a team like Maidstone to resort to the hammiest of acting like this, makes me wonder how their manager hasn't rollocked them about it. Shame on them for such tactics.

Our team to a man was class today.Apart from one stray pass I thought George Hunt put in the best display I've seen from him thus far,so credit where credit is due, after my criticism of him last week. I'm not going to pick a Slough Man Of The Match as every player in amber and blue put in a sterling shift today.

I left slightly early to get home to watch England rugby but came away elated, after such a superb Slough team performance. Hope they all enjoyed a few well deserved beers after the match.

As for Maidstone, and taking nothing away from Slough, I can't say I was overly impressed with them.On that performance,it makes me wonder how they have made it to second in the table !

As Hakan Heyrettin said in his post mach interview, "We let our supporters down. First half we weren't really at the races. We were lack lustre. All I ask of my team is to work hard and in the first half we didn't work hard. That was the problem."

As well as being second best all over the park!

Nothing to do with Slough playing well and scoring two very good goals.

Disappointing again from a manager that shows no respect for the opposition when they lose a game.

Not sure Maidstone will bring 7-800? I can’t see our support being anymore than 600. I’d say the crowd will be 8-900.

Sadly Glen, I have to offer you my congratulations on the crowd of 883 being within your forecast range of 800-900. And I mean sadly on behalf of Slough Town FC.

This is terrible support for our club. As he knows my friend Atma, my ex next-door neighbour Paul did drive up from Ross-on-Wye solely for the match. My friend Atma and his match mascot grandson Gavin were covered by the match mascot package but four other members of their family purchased tickets and came over from Hounslow.

As for the hoards who never came ... what a match they missed!!!
