Karen - Why aren't the postponements being shown on Full Time, a lot of fans, particularly groundhoppers, rely on it and I wouldn't be surprised if some turn up at games this evening only to find the gates locked.

A groundhopper from another Forum was in attendance:

Letchworth Garden City Eagles 4-1 Shefford Town & Campton
Spartan South Midlands League Div 1
Attendance: 90-ish
Admission: £5
Prog: £1, 8 pages, good quality paper but thin on content
Very enjoyable game made all the better by both the struggling homesters upsetting the form book and the increasingly heavy pitch. Shefford had a lot of the ball and worked hard, but left themselves exposed at the back as the game progressed and two late goals sealed their fate.
The ground, as has been mentioned previously, is different to that of the old Letchworth GC team who played in the Isthmian League and which I think is now the base of the Herts County FA. It’s a work in progress and unfortunately the only cover on a rainy evening was the 50 seat breeze block stand, although another structure is going up alongside it. The remainder is fully enclosed, fully railed, with hard standing on three sides (no access to the grass standing at the far end), and dugouts on the far side.
There’s a clubhouse where a good range of hot food was available - I would have gone back at half-time for a drink & chocolate bar but didn’t want to risk losing my place in the stand. Plenty of parking in the club’s car park, plus the adjoining rugby club and sports centre.

Another groundhopper from another Forum was in attendance at Letchworth Garden City Eagles v Shefford Town & Campton on Tuesday, there must be a League ruIing about remote pitch inspections but then how can the 'inspecting' OfficiaI properIy take into account any further expected rain before or after kick off:

Full Time gives an attendance of 61. Presumably the number paying as my crowd estimate was the same as yours.
Interesting that, apparently, the referee (who I thought had an excellent game) had been sent pictures of the pitch, including the ball rolling freely, earlier the evening - my first experience of a remote inspection. The decision to play was obviously the correct one as despite being very wet the pitch caused no problems for the players throughout.
The floodlights were on at the adjacent Herts FA ground so I popped in with a view to getting some photos but a large number of children were going through various training sessions on the 3G surface and in the current era taking photos (obviously only of the stands) would likely have been misinterpreted by any wokists present. I can report that the large old school stand from the Isthmian Leagues days has been replaced by a modern one but not of the kit variety.
