SSML Projections - 2022/23

Members will recall 'SSML Projections' threads for the last two campaigns so lets continue the trend for 2022/23, there's already a lengthy thread on another Forum on the subject including mention of the SSML. As a starter for ten here is a diagram of how promotion and relegation will work at the end of this season:

And clarification of procedure at Step 6 level although this seems somewhat 'woolly':

So as things stand, New Salamis and Risborough Rangers, whichever order they finish in, would both be promoted to Step 4.

And who's coming down into the Spartan ?  My guess would be Colney Heath and Chalfont St Peter --- still some way to go though.

Risborough going nowhere with that ground as it was when I saw it just before Christmas. Salamis with no home ground of their own shouldn't even be in the conversation. Let Leighton and Hadley go up.

Karen - Really, but Jim Bundy has thrown his hat into the ring for the last two seasons hasn't he and Codicote have previously been a Division One Club so surely they want promotion with a Step 6 ground and be eligible to enter the FA Cup and FA Vase.

I have it on good authority that Pitstone & Ivinghoe have aborted their appIication for promotion to Step 6.

An interesting Club statement from Eynesbury United:

The Bulls would like to make this statement in relation to our attempted promotion to Step 6.

Recently we have had a number of questions about our application to Step 6 and have learned of some misinformation in relation to that application.

For any team wanting to be promoted to Step 6 you must finish in the top 5 of your respective league, or above any other team within that top 5 who have the facilities to go up.

Up until last week Eynesbury United and one other side in the SSML Division 2 had applied, however Eynesbury United are now the only side who are still applying as the other Club have pulled out.

For us to be considered (or any other side at Step 7) you must have the correct ground grading which obviously we have, however, contrary to some information, a top 5 finish does not guarantee us going up and does not mean we are automatically promoted.

All teams that have applied from Step 7 will have to wait until late May before they know if they are promoted, we, or no other Club, have been told whether they will be promoted or what possible League they will be in. At the moment we could be in the UCL, SSML or Thurlow Nunn depending on the spaces available or relegation issues, if promoted at all.

We thought we would clear this up as there seems to be a lot of chatter stating we are up,  we, like other Step 7 applicants have a lot of work to do and nothing should be assumed.

I hope this clarifies the situation and clears up any confusion.

MiIton Keynes Irish are surprised and disappointed by their aIIocation for next season and wiII understandabIy be appeaIing: 

We can confirm that we will be appealing our allocation for the 2022/23 season. This decision could be very detrimental to the club and we personally don’t see the logic behind it. We also find it very strange that we have been asked and agreed to host SSML Cup Finals in consecutive seasons yet we’re being moved to a new league.

Munchkin - yes, the whoIe thing is a bit of a farce as was the restructuring of the Pyramid this time Iast year with BiggIeswade United being moved to the United Counties League for exampIe. karen made a good observation on another Forum that we wiII be deaIing with ten County FA's next season and that's a Iot for a smaII League:

As it stands following the FA's allocation for next season the SSML will have no less than 10 County FA's next season - Beds, Berks & Bucks, Birmingham, Herts, Hunts, Leicestershire & Rutland, London, Middlesex, Northants and Oxford.
