3,000 supporters and the amount they spend on drink must be colossal.

Yes, their outgoings must be colossal too otherwise they'd be pushing for top position. Ground rental prohibitive perhaps?

Agreed not much between the teams that I thought we edged and finishing the game with 6 players 20 or under.

Just missing that bit of luck you need in footy every now and then, fitness wise we looked fine and competed well and looked the much better team in the first half.

Throughout the game we had the better opportunities, people are human we make mistakes but remember all the positive players produce typically out weighs any mistakes.

Of course we have some key players out injured just like a lot of teams have.

By the word 'critical' do you mean being at the match and giving a supporters view of the game without slagging the team/players off?

So until our injured players are back no one should give an honest opinion on a performance unless of course we win and play well?

Reading Rebel, you know I'm all for an open forum with varying opinions on games/play/players etc. That keeps this forum interesting,so I don't know why you think I'm trying to 'censor' fans views of the game.

All I was trying to get over in my post was that it seems harsh to judge wayward performances currently, given what has happened in the last month or so. It just surprised me that regular stalwarts like yourself have failed to appreciate 'the mountain that is being climbed' at the moment,so to speak. That is why I finished my post with the wording of 'giving our managers and team some slack'.

Believe it or not 3spirit I do understand and appreciate 'the mountain that is being climbed' at the moment.

Do you think that supporters should currently keep their post match views to themselves after a wayward performance or just not mention the bad bits?

I do think there has to be a sense of realism and by that I mean let Bakes and Unders deal with what’s going on on the pitch… Having us lot point out the obvious isn’t really helping at the moment!

I’m more concerned by the direction the club is taking off the field than what’s going on on it at the moment to be honest.

A couple of points from me.

I don’t like to criticise individuals but I was surprised that Aaron seemed to take the brunt of the criticism from unders whilst togs was barely mentioned. To my mind, Kuhly did nothing different on that throw than any other, we like to get the ball back in play and get moving again. From watching the highlights, had Lee just turned out and laid off to northy or edon, the error wouldn’t have happened. The inexplicable decision to try and lump it was very out of character and, whilst I believe this goal was much more his error than kuhl, it doesn’t affect my long term admiration of togs as a player and representative of our club.

The other point I wanted to make was about the play offs. When people say, we should just forget about the play offs for this season, I don’t really understand what that means. The team are not going to just stop playing, they will still try to win every game and by the very nature of that, nothing can be classed as off the table. We were in roughly the same position 4-5 years ago when we went on a late run and but for 2 90th+ minute equalisers we would have made the play offs. We have shown that with our best team available we can beat any team in this league and go on a winning run. I don’t think any fan will be upset if we don’t make the play offs but that doesn’t mean we can’t continue to try and win every game and see what happens.

I’m guessing CR isn’t a fan of the number of U23’s progressing into the first team.

Sorry Glen, that is nonsense, if they are good enough play them but I don’t think they are all good enough YET and have had to be blooded due to the threadbare nature of the squad.

I’m not going to go into detail regarding my concerns re: the direction of the club of the field because it will upset too many people, no point.

I was purely going by your comment below.

We had 5 teenagers on the pitch at the end!

I think your last paragraph is very telling when it comes to the state of the club at the moment Bernie!

Either you have heard something/have inside knowledge or it’s just your view, either way you should share it as we’re all fans and care for the club.

Glen, it’s widely discussed at games by supporters, it’s no secret, large numbers are concerned. We’re being left behind by other clubs in our division, it’s plainly obvious!

There was me worrying and thinking you had some big gossip! Why would you think we could compete at the top table? It’s fairly obvious our budget is below mid table, we don’t own our ground, our support has dwindled from near 800 a couple of seasons ago to around 600ish. We have no one with money connected to the club, so we’ll be at this level for a while until something drastically changes.

CR, views can and do differ, they are not always the obvious.

Supporters have a right to give their views and opinions on how their team has performed after a game.

I'm sure managers and players like to hear the praise that is given by supporters when the team does well.

After all isn't that what football forums are mainly about?

Never once said we should compete at the top table and the excuses are exactly why I fear for the direction the club is heading, rather than make excuses someone should have the dynamism to steer the club through the obstacles. We won’t be at this level if things continue as they are, we will be relegated eventually.

Cookham Rebel, if you have an opinion or you have heard something then post it on here and I will do my best to address your fears. If you, and other supporters, don’t tell people involved at the club then this is where things get out of hand as it turns into chinese whispers.

if you have genuine concerns, put them on here and I’ll try to answer them, if you’d rather then feel free to approach me at a game. I’m not trying to have a go at you or anyone else.

Rebelade, I learnt my lesson about 11 years ago on this forum and will not go into detailed opinion. All I’ve done is said what I think in small detail and already it’s turning into something it should not. I am entitled to be concerned, happy or whatever. I’ve thought it since we lost 1-0 to Chippenham back in August and I’m not the only one with this chain of thought.
