A check on Twitter showed a recent post from the home club advising the game had been called off so it was Plan B which was a trip to Coles Park for a revisit, In the end this was a really good game but massively spoiled by the antics of both sets of players who seemed to lack a modicum of discipline between them. Every decision was challenged and it became very tiresome. It all threatened to boil over in the first half but a flourish of cards including a second yellow for a home defender late on after the break kept it sennsible-ish. When they concentrated on the football it was entertaining with end to end and although there were seven goals there could have been a few more. The visitors led after about 15 when a pass across the box was intercepted and driven home first time, but Salamis equalised within a minute when a right wing cross was bundled home from close range. Shortly after they led when a corner was scrambled in from close range but then Broadfields quickly equalised with a fantastic shot from outside the box that hit the underside of the bar and bounced up into the net. However on 35 Salamis regained the lead with a penalty following a foul, with the kick ‘Panenka’ style down the middle with the keeper going to his left. The fourth Salamis goal came on 63 following a drop ball with a smart low finish from veteran Derek Asamoah , now aged 40 but one the quickest on the pitch and they added to it late on after the visiting keeper saved low down but could do nothing with the rebound. Very friendly welcome from the home side which included a free cuppa - and what was an enjoyable game would have been even more so had many of those playing shown some maturity.
