v Hampton & Richmond

I think we've definitely drawn the short straw over this Christmas period.

After our tough game yesterday we go again tomorrow against a Hampton side that have had a couple of weeks rest.

We then play Oxford City again next Saturday who themselves have no game this week.

Any points gained over this period will certainly be a bonus.

I think you're  correct RR optimum effort required from these two games Oxford City is the only team in our league unbeaten away from home and H&R  have taken a lot more points away than at home  We need large attendances and huge encouragement at these two imo.

OUTSTANDING

Best word I can come up with to describe that performance today.

I thought we were unlucky to not be 2 or 3 up at half time after some excellent play to create plenty of opportunities. Hamptons keeper made a couple of excellent stops which kept the score at 0 for us. Amazed their #5 stayed on the pitch after a very bad foul and only a yellow given then took out a Goodrham and should have got a 2nd yellow (or Tyler should have been booked for diving). 1 other massive part of the 1st half was an excellent save by Jonathon North after some good work down the Hampton left. Very important save and 1 of the very few things he had to do in the game really.

2nd half was a very bitty start but once we started taking our chances, Hampton just couldn't live with us. Very difficult to pick the best of the 4 goals, for me it was just Aaron Kuhls over Tyler Goodrhams, but both were great. The run by Matt Lench for his goal was as direct as I've seen him this year and a Guy Hollis goal from a good Lench corner rounded it off. Shame about the Hampton goal after a scramble in our box, but that was the only slight negative on what I thought was a complete of a performance as we have put in all season. MoM was a tough one today, can't argue with Aaron Kuhl, but would put Matt Lench, Guy Hollis and Tyler Goodrham in the conversation as well.

A few other bits......

Surely the worst referee we have had all season. Was dire for both teams, from throw ins being taken 15-20 yards sometime further forward to him missing 1 if not 2 pens for handball for us in the first half. Just rubbish from start to finish.

Hamptons keeper at half time????? Only caught the end of the incident but from talk around the ground, seems like he was getting a bit of abuse from the fans which resulted in him headbutting a Slough fan? Happy to be corrected on that but if true, surely a ban in coming.

#5 for Hampton, when he was substituted, decided to attack one of his team mates and throw 4-5 punches in the away dugout. What an example to set as captain!!!!!!

Can't wait for Sunday to see if we can turn around the Oxford result a complete a very solid Christmas and NY period.

Excellent performance by Slough today, a solid team effort.

I would agree that the ref was poor today, definitely one of the weakest we have seen this season.

Difficult to comment on the keeper incident and half time as i only saw the end of it, however if a supporter was head-butted then there must have been some provocation. Maybe someone else can shed further light on the event.

Never seen a fight on the bench after a substitution before, what a happy team they must be.

Happy new year to you all.

Nothing like an emphatic victory to follow a loss and  sets us up nicely to end the only unbeaten away record in our league when Oxford turn up on Sunday  This result moves us up to 11th just 3 points out of the playoff group  Hampton now 14th.

Not like you to be talking keepers Slough flyer!!! ;) Alan Julian has been a ‘friend’ of a good portion of the behind the goal Slough fans for a while since his days at billericay (in a similar vein to Ian brown at Biggleswade) and we often have some light hearted banter with him throughout the game. This was what was occurring during the first period with lots of amicable chatting and we even chanted for him when he was getting a bollicking off his manager. I didn’t see what caused him to lose it at half time but I can categorically say that he did head butt a Slough fan and would surely have been sent off if the ref had seen it. Instead he got booked after going back for seconds and this then carried on into the 2nd half.

It’s completely unacceptable for him to have done what he did but it is a worry that we’ve had 2 incidents in the last 2 games, no matter how much or how little was due to our fans. With tensions still simmering from Sunday with some of oxfords fans and the keeper, it has to be a worry that further incidents this coming weekend could be on the cards and presumably land the club in hot water.

Don't know what you mean Radders?

We thought it looked pretty decent banter at the start of the game and even commented on it. Shame that it clearly boiled over at some point before half time, especially as the keeper looked like he was joining in at points.

Agree about the crowd issues, let's hope that nothing untoward happens on Sunday and we can see those crowds increase without any issues.

First of all, what a great team performance and some great goals too. This was without our captain Nis and Ben starting on the bench!

In relation to the Incident with their goal keeper I saw and heard it all. Alan asked the slough fan what the matter was, he replied with you're still breathing. Alan was like that's not banter wishing me dead.  Was chuntering about it, then as the whistle went for half time the fan was taking his flag down and he said see you 2nd half keeper. That's when the keeper lost the plot and came over and started saying I will see you after the game and then shoved his head into the forehead of the slough fan. He walked away then went back for more.  2nd half the keeper was still chuntering about fans attacking players and the stewards not protecting him.  It was quite clear it was him attacking the fan.

GAVIN CHAMDAL attended Slough Town  4  Hampton & Richmond Borough  1

My friend Atma has attended several Slough Town matches with me over the years including that massive 0-1 at Maidstone United on 6th November.

His nine years old grandson Gavin came for the first time to Slough Town  2  Dorking Wanderers  1  on 13th November and famously asked me before the match if I would ask for his name to be announced over the public address. I mentioned that he would need to book the Mascot Package for that - perhaps one day! He famously said after the match, "Grandad, I want to come again." And today he did just that! He's quite good at increasing the tea bar takings as well!

I enjoyed watching the game today, felt like I'd never been away. Fitting that Guy Hollis got on the scoresheet ! ?

First half seemed a scrappy affair but with both sides having opportunities to score. Can't say I was expecting a goal fest in the second half but once our first goal went in, Slough took control. Thought Tyler Goodram took his goal well, and there was me thinking at the time that he wasn't getting much of a look in, and that maybe we would be better off moving him wide, and to bring Ben Harris on, when up he popped with his goal.

Impressed with Aaron Kuhl.Only the second time I've seen him play. Looks a tidy player. Of the other newer players, I liked Tenconi's running and his trying to be involved. Not really his day today, though. Didn't see much of George Hunt to know what he's about, and with Joe Lawal and Eitel Goueth fleeting appearance saw nothing to write home about but nice that we have young players to call upon and can improve.

I know Jonathan North and Freddie Grant were great signings and nothing changed my mind on that score today. Jonathan made one really important save with his foot in the first half which kept Hampton out which could have changed the course of the game. Freddie gave an assured display without really over exerting himself.

Can't see Gary McCann being happy with what his Hampton side did today, and yet they did make chances and weren't terrible. I'll be surprised if he retains the services of Charlie Wassmer given his performance. I was less than impressed with his intimidatory tactics to Slough's younger players, and if he has punched one of his own team mates, he ought to be given his marching orders out of their club.

Overall, a well deserved win for Slough, and for me it was good to be back. On to the next one.

Funnily enough the Ref kept saying go back to where the ball went out and then proceeded to let the player pinch about 10 yards.

Probably par for a lot of refs I've seen.

Well I think that they have been two very entertaining  games over the Christmas period.

The way we have played in these games away to Oxford and home to Hampton is light years away from performances such as say, the second half at Billericay !

Totally deserved 3 points yesterday, and we didn't deserve to come away on Boxing Day with a defeat.

Not only very good performances from the Rebels but some very good goals scored as well. Thankfully the most straightforward goal we scored ( our second v. Oxford ) was the one I missed seeing live

due to a lump of an Oxford City sub warming up along the touchline right in front of me !

Thanks mate.

Is there a trend starting here ?

Since the Beaconsfield "hiccup" we have scored in successive matches 2 goals, then another 2,then 3,then 2 and now 4 !

This for us is a virtual avalanche of goals.

Can I just point out to Bakes' and Unders' that some of us have sponsored the team for the number of goals we score this season.

If we are now going to go silly and score numerous goals in our matches the team are going to make me have an awkward conversation with my wife come the end of the season explaining where our hard earned cash is going !

Even though we scored some really good goals yesterday, there was one bit of skill that I thought stood out yesterday.

I probably only noticed it so much because it happened more or less right in front of me.

From what I remember, there was a long, very high ball coming down at pace over Alfonso's right shoulder.

Somehow he controlled it, cut inside and laid it off for a teammate which led to a decent chance being created.

Wow.

I would love to think that the cover of yesterday's programme is a portent of things to come.

It says yesterday's game was played on December 28th 2022.

I would love to think that Alfonso was still playing for us in December 2022 !

We created quite a few chances first half but failed to capitalize partly due to some good keeping and not getting the rub of the green.

Highlight of the first half was Northy making a superb last ditch save that kept the score at 0-0.

Second half started a bit scrappy but once we scored we seemed to go into overdrive producing some great football and excellent goals.

Excellent performance and result and a cracking atmosphere/support from our fans on the night.

COYR!!!!!

What a fantastic day yesterday was, the performance and effort was outstanding and the atmosphere was the best for along time. I'm sure Holyport Rebel will be posting soon with a more detailed and educated account of the game.

In memory of my dad Bim i sponsored the game yesterday and i have no doubt he would have loved the day watching from above. It wasn't easy trying to pick a man of the match as every player had a great game but i had to pick one so congratulations to Aaron.

I was pleased that some of my family came along to the game as well and although they are not football fans they said at the end of the day that they thoroughly enjoyed the day and were tempted to comeback, even my wife was asking about getting a half season ticket but i'm not sure if that's a good idea.

What i would say to everyone is that if you want to celebrate an occasion or like myself sponsor a game in memory of loved one then i would highly recommend that you sponsor a match, you won't regret it, the hospitality is superb and a very enjoyable day will be had by all.

The club we all support is one of the most special clubs anyone could follow and would like to finish by saying a huge thank you everyone connected with the club in making yesterday a very special day. My dad would have been proud and personally i thank him for taking me to my first Slough game in 1965 and hope there are many more to come.

As we say ONCE A REBEL ALWAYS A REBEL.

Awesome display from the team, had the potential to be a bigger scoreline, how the first half ended 0-0 was a mystery.

Had a great day with friends and family watching, proved to be a great game to get more people hooked to come back and watch more games.

North's save first half was top draw, with some very good finishing for our goals.

Personally I felt we bossed H&R all over the park, can not believe how much that team argue amongst themselves.

Sounds like we still have an idiot behind  the goal. Why would you say something like that to a goalkeeper? Certainly not banter.
