Happy Christmas

More than happy to second that emotion. Just looked out the stats on my first Christmas local derby. Slough beat Maidenhead 6-3 on Boxing Day 1957. Interestingly six of the players who represented Slough also turned out for Maidenhead at some stage of their careers while the corresponding figure for the Magpies was four.

To me, this season began in earnest on Saturday 9th October.

Rebels might have lost 1-3 to Ebbsfleet United but for me it was a fantastic match from the first whistle to the last and the dawn of a new Bakes and Unders team.

I could not be more excited about the rest of the season as Rebels look to push up the table in the league and visit The York Community Stadium in the FA Trophy.

I might be wrong, but it appears to me that the government consider we need our football as much as our booster jabs and that the surge in the Omicron variant new cases will have peaked by the end of January 2022.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and, in between, look forward to seeing you all again at Arbour Park on Tuesday 28th December.
