Winning Finish at Wingate & Finchley

The Pars

The 2.1 score line was not a fair reflection of the game, with better luck and finishing this game should have been a thrashing. But it is great to watch us make so many chances.

Considering that 7 regular starters were missing from the line up it shows that with our recent signings we building up strength in depth.

Well done to Tom Wraight who has scored in both games he has played for us.

Our new strategy of winning football matches is something that I am really getting behind ?

Long may it continue.

A touch of deja vu with a completely overwhelming first half performance from Hornchurch and at least half a dozen decent chances (an observation reflected by an incandescent W&F fan at half time) but just the single goal to show for it. The fears came to fruition a quarter of an hour into the second half when George Winn got a red card. With the extra man Wingate & Finchley managed to get out of their own half and cause problems resulting in an equaliser. Yet Hornchurch still had enough quality to create decent chances and yet again Ben Goode had a worldie game keeping them out. But despite this Hornchurch got the ball in the net twice, although one was ruled offside, to get their noses in front again. Moments later Wingate's Tyrique Clarke was also off for an early bath and with equal numbers it wasn't too difficult to see the game out.

So, three wins on the spin, 2 games in a row without giving away a penalty (so glad to see that habit broken) and moved up into the top 10.

The next four league games all look winnable (touch wood) if we can catch a break with injuries (I think we had more players in the stands than on the pitch) and keep the current form going.

Finally, good luck to Jili at Sheffield United, I believe he agreed to put about 35 tickets on the gate for his debut :) :) :)
