Very pleased with that result especially to have come back from a losing situation

Tonbridge management were playing their team down prematch  ie four fitness tests would be required and only one of three forwards they expected to bring in had materialised They failed to mention they had held high flying St Albans to a 0-0 draw just days ago

I was a bit  nervous about this outcome  so well done all!

Poor game to watch and a poor performance from us especially in the first half where it seemed giving the ball away was the aim of the game.

We couldn't string a pass together in the first half and duly gifted Tonbridge the lead after some poor play from Nis.

Getting the equalizer late on in the half and going in level at half time was a crucial turning point in the game.

Our second half performance was certainly better when we managed to string some passes/moves together which eventually lead our winning goal from Aaron Kuhl.

Having said all that, to be nowhere near our best and still manage to pick up the 3 points was excellent and testament to the battling qualities of this group of players.

Well done to all.

I've just watched the highlights of Saturday's game and am surprised ( and pleased) to see that our first goal was indeed scored by Alphonso.

From where I was standing I could have sworn it was an own-goal.

Also, even after watching these highlights, I am still none the wiser as to why the referee gave a free-kick to Tonbridge soon  after Guy's header hit the bar.

Ben very bravely launches himself horizontally at the rebound to try to knock it in, risking getting his head knocked off his shoulders by the high kicking defender trying to make a clearance.

Has the ref thought Ben's head was a "dangerous" attempt to win the ball by putting the Tonbridge 's defenders foot in peril ?

I really don't know.

I was also really pleased to read in the match programme that Volume 4 of the Slough Town F.C history will be available soon.

Put me down for a copy.

I've already got Volume 1 and I'm not sure what's happened to Volumes 2 and 3, but its a shame that Volume 4 isn't seemingly going to be out in time for Christmas.

Never mind, if its as detailed about Slough Town  in the 60's and 70's as the first volume was about Slough Town's origins, it will be well worth buying.

⁸Apart from a one or two slips our defence over the last six weeks have been tremendous with last ditch tackles and great forward play as well as Josh and Freddie shooting and scoring when the opportunities arise.

But Scott Davies needs a mention he has been tremendous with his sweeping up in front of Guy Toggs or Nis helping George and Aaron in midfield long raking balls and marauding runs he is like the glue that joins the team Superb.

If you look closely it looks like the Refs view of the incident is obstructed first by a Tonbridge player and then by Alfonso and all he can see is Ben lunge forward and the Tonbridge player hit the deck.

I think this can be the only reason he has given a foul against us.

Obviously not including the games against Eastbourne and Beaconsfield.
