Rhodes
Again the full draw for this weekend's eagerly awaited 32 ties and, surprisingly, just one all Step 6 tie. It's a tough ask for Shefford Town & Campton at Eastern Counties League Premier Division Lakenheath:

Decided to walk from Elstree & Borehamwood BR Station and it took roughly 40 mins, complete journey along paved and lit streets. There is also a 107 bus from both E&B Station and Edgware & High Barnet LT Stations, which stops about a 5 min walk from the ground. LL are part of the London Maccabi Jewish sports association and their opponents were founded by Cypriots. LL play at the Maccabi Association sports ground and the facilities were impressive for this level. The pitch was excellent and despite the rain, throughout the game, never gave a hint of flooding. In addition their is a excellent new seated stand, which comfortably sheltered virtually all the crowd from the elements. On the site their is also both a caged floodlit 3G pitch and cricket pitch together with a new club house selling alcohol, beverages and snacks. Both teams are doing well in their respective leagues this season but Step 6 LL immediately took the game to their Step 5 opponents and were deserved winners in the end. Unusual incident after 4 mins when the LL keeper pulled a leg muscle in making a clearance and has to the substituted, fortunately their was a sub goalie on the bench. NS tried to play the ball out from the back whereas the home team favoured the more direct approach. After a goalless first half, LL took the lead on 49 mins when an NS player made a careless back pass directly into the path of LL striker Daniel Creese who scored from close range. After that the game was end to end but NS seemed to lack any power up front, given their record this season can only assume they were having an off day. Creese, who was a danger throughout the game, clinched the game for LL in the 82nd min when he beat the offside trap from a through ball and calmly slotted the ball past the NS keeper. At this point the small group of NS supporters had obviously had enough and decided to leave. LL comfortably saw the game out and were deserved winners in the end. As a result of the injury to the keeper, the game did not finish until just before 17:00 but with a final push made the 17:40 back to London Bridge where I easily made my connection back to South London. agamemnon3
Fakenham Town v Hadley 3-1 A long trek to North Norfolk, to see a truly awful game, one of the poorest I've seen for some time. At times it seemed that the only real contest was about who could kick the ball highest into the air. The one moment of real quality came in the 14th minute, when FT's Josh Hazell hammered home an unstoppable free-kick from around twenty-two yards, and for that alone, FT deserved to go through. The other three goals, Hadley on 5, FT on 9 and 76,were simply the result of rank bad defending. Nice to have a trip out of London, but this was a desperately poor advertisement for Step 5 football. Also impressed by the pitch/stand and look of the ground, and a good little team they have also. Got chatting to the LL President in the clubhouse pre-match, a nice old fella, 68 years with the club he told me, originally a player. They used to groundshare with Wingate and Finchley FC apparently. I stood at the back of the stand with a hopper from Southend, who'd also travelled by PT. I drove, M40/M25/A1, the ground is v v close to the A1. New Salamis had quite a few travelling committee and fans, although their team list in the programme looked less Cypriot compared to the LL team list that looked almost exclusively of Jewish background heritage in looking at surnames. Rhodes
Sadly no further SSML involvement but here is the draw for the FA Vase Fourth Round. I wonder if Karen knows the last time, if there was one, when no SSML Club's remained at only the Fourth Round (last 32) stage, it's very disappointing:
