HANWELL HERE WE COME

After our successful trip to Bedfordshire on Saturday, we have been drawn away again, this time to Hanwell Town, in the Second Round Proper of the FA Trophy, to be played on Saturday 27 November.

Many Towners may already be familiar with Hanwell's Powerday Stadium from previous visits, which is only a relatively short distance away from Enfield, via the A406 North Circular Road to Hangar Lane Roundabout, then West on the A40 towards Perivale & Greenford. The ground is in Perivale Lane. postcode UBE 8TL.

A bit about our opponents. Like ourselves, Hanwell are having a pretty good season. They are unbeaten at home this season in the Isthmian League South Central Division, with 4 wins and 2 draws, and are currently lie sixth in the Table.

They are in good form, and last Saturday they knocked Wingate & Finchley out of the FA Trophy with a 1-0 home win. Earlier in the week, they beat Hendon 1-2 away in the Middlesex Senior County Cup.

This promises to be a battle royal, a real ding-donger cup-tie, one not to be missed. Our level of support at Biggleswade was superb, and we need another big turnout at Hanwell.

Town will not underestimate Hanwell, and will come well prepared for the challenge. Let's be there and help our guys through to the next round, with plenty of vocal support and encouragement.

Interesting to note that our FA Trophy opponents Hanwell Town lost their unbeaten home record on Saturday, when they went down 0-1 to Chertsey at the Powerday Stadium.
Tomorrow night, while we host Hornchurch at the QEII Stadium, Hanwell will be playing away, down this way, at Chichester City (remember them?) in The Alan Turvey Trophy. 

How do you fancy our chances on Saturday?  Please spare a moment to share your thoughts with others, on how you see the game, and the likely outcome, bearing in mind there will be no extra time or replay, if the score is level at ninety minutes, it will go straight to penalties.

I don't see any problems for us  from a team that's a level below . I know they've done us over before but this time its going to be different , I'm pretty confident our class will shine through . Not Impressed with the  basic ground facilities from our last visit which resembles an old cricket pavilion clubhouse in one corner and a small stand stuck next to it , Don't remember much else about it apart from noise of the nearby A40 .

they will want to beat us so we have to be on top form if it goes to pens i cant see us winning  i hope im wrong. We need to have a two or three goal lead maybe four  befor we can relax slightly  seen our defence before let in sloppy goals . If our back four can stop that we have a good chance .

BTW stop the long ball pleae we play better through the midfield IMO.

OPPOSITION UPDATE

Chichester City  0-0  Hanwell Town
(Chichester win 3-1 on Penalties)

Ahead of their FA Trophy contest with Town on Saturday, Hanwell made changes to the XI that featured against Chertsey last time out  - when they suffered a first Isthmian south central league loss in eight matches, and their first home defeat of the season.

Last night, after a goal-less ninety minutes, the match went straight to penalties, which Chichester won 3-1, to advance to the next round of the Velocity Trophy competition.

Hanwell await us on the back of two consecutive defeats.

Potential banana slip this one ... and with the lottery of penalties if no result after 90 ...

Having lost 3 penalty shoot outs out of 3 in the last 14 months we need to go all out for the win ..

Team selection will be interesting - will Mani return after suspension? Has Adam done enough off the bench to earn a recall?

Last 2 games have needed subs to shake things up - so I would expect a few changes ...

Wasnt able to make this one, but my wife's longstanding plans have been cancelled this morning due to people not able to travel down from Manchester due to the winds - so about to jump in the car!!!

FT 2-0 win

Those of us who travelled to Hanwell's Powerday Stadium yesterday, on a bitterly cold afternoon, were rewarded with another fine performance by our players, against a good Hanwell side, and a well deserved win, which saw Town make history by reaching the FA Trophy 3rd Round Proper for the first time ever. This was a real team performance for our Club, both on and off the pitch. Well done and congratulations to Manager Andy Leese, Mario and Ian, all our players who delivered this result, and last but not least, not forgetting our loyal band of Towners, who collectively must have accounted for around half the crowd, and gave great support and encouragement to our players, from start to finish, in a tough, challenging cup-tie.

We are having a memorable season, both in the league and cup. Let's enjoy it, and continue to show how proud we are to be supporting our Club. Anything is possible!

They must have been disappointed with the crowd LH as they had 350 for a previous match and they got that with us having 150+….. Thought Sam was excellent in difficult conditions and Harold never missed a ball… scrappy first half … just why Sams goal was disallowed I don’t know after the ref gave a goal…. Highlight was the great first goal… what control and finish…. Moments like that separate the best from the others…
