Karen - Pittodrie you mean, I have never been there but have always wanted to. Two interesting ties this afternoon, I am sure we have all desperately missed the Challenge Trophy where Division Two Club's have the heaven made opportunity to pit their wits against 'the big boys' from the Premier Division, as is the case with Old Bradwell United later, Tring Corinthians AFC on Tuesday at Pancake Lane and Totternhoe entertaining Leighton Town on 27 November:

Saturday 6 November

SSML Challenge Trophy First Round
New Bradwell St Peter v Burton Park Wanderers (kick off 2.00pm)
Old Bradwell United v Milton Keynes Irish (kick off 2.00pm)

Half Time scores where found, one or two surprises but the least being that Stotfold boss Brett Donnelly has been sent from the dugout for foul and abusive language, and that was with his side leading:

Such a one sided game at the Boundary tonight, Salamis must have had 80% possession and on that basis should've walked it. Thankfully a combination of solidish defence, poor finishing and some more great saves from Lewis Todd meant Jets somehow progress to round 2, was attack versus defence for most of the game. Kyal Williams again on the scoresheet, a simple tap in deciding it after 10 minutes. A modicum of solace after the 10-0 league annihilation just before Kevin Christou took the reins. Different side and a different proposition these days.

Harpenden Town v Hadley  0-3

A routine win for Hadley in a game that Harpenden appeared to regard as an unnecessary chore, resting five, six or nine first-teamers, depending on who you believe.

Goals from Jordan Edwards on 11 and 39, and Bradley Marriot on 21 meant that the tie was settled before the interval.

Man of the match was undoubtedly Harpenden keeper Emmanuel Olajide, as without him Hadley would have scored twelve.

On to round two, and, ideally, a real contest...

SSML Challenge Trophy First Round
Northampton Sileby Rangers 0 Eynesbury United 1

A nice report on this one from Eynesbury United where there was almost an old fashioned cup upset:

Spartan South Midlands Challenge Cup 1st Round
Northampton Sileby Rangers (0) 2 Eynesbury Utd (1) 2 (Baxter, Dixon)
United where twice on the verge of a great cup upset only for the hosts to show their durability and finally put United out of the competition.
This was the Bulls debut game in the competition and certainly did not look out of place against the team one step higher in the pyramid. Though the evening did not start well with Lee Bassett and Josh Spavins pulling out during the warm up.
Npton SR started the game with a lot of the early possession but found the United back four and midfield hard to break down. Neil Morris rolled back the years with a quality display in the centre of the park, and along with McLean and Sole controlled the midfield for long periods. United had the first chance of any note when a ball in behind the Npton SR defence found Baxter racing clear but his effort was well saved by the keeper. However United repeated the move on 26 minutes with Fox finding Baxter and this time Baxter placed the ball past the keeper and into the net. A well deserved lead, and up to half time United had kept Npton SR to a couple of half chances.
Npton SR came out in the second half with more determination and started to push United back, and the Bulls were more than happy to keep their shape and hit them on the counter attack. On 53 minutes there was a handbags melee that saw a Npton SR player slap McLean around the face, something all three officials claimed they did not see, or indeed even happened, and minutes later United were on the attack and clearly won a corner only for the ref to give a goal kick. From that resultant restart Npton SR went up the other end and equalised with a great header.
United could have rolled over at this stage but battled back and won a free kick on the edge of the area. And for the second time this season Own Dixon hit a lovely left foot shot around the wall and into the net.
The last fifteen minutes became hard work for the Bulls, and after losing Bassett and Spavins only had one sub to call on, and the Bulls began to tire, which allowed Npton SR to attack a lot more often. And it looked though as if United would do enough but fell asleep at a corner with 5 minutes left and it was volleyed home to make it 2-2.
So the game went to penalties. Jeckells saved the first, and when Dixon, Morris, McLean and Fox scored theirs United just needed Baxter to score to put them through, but a good save by the keeper to his left denied United. Sudden death was not kind, Jeckells nearly kept the next penalty out, and the following penalty hit the post but sneaked in. Harris, Humphrey scored their penalties with style, but Flack was denied again by a good save.
It was gutting for the boys who worked so hard on the evening, but just were not clinical enough to get the job over the line.
A great night though and we learned a lot. and we have to mention the facility at Npton SR what a great ground and a huge thanks to everyone who made us feel welcome. On to Saturday when we travel to Warboys Town in the Hunts Cup.

A groundhopper from another Forum was at Hitchin Road on Wednesday, also see the match programme. I wonder why the game kicked off at 7.41pm:

No paper programme, online version is available.
I had thought of travelling through to Bishop's Stortford for the Enfield Walthamstow game, but I lost my football hat 2 weeks ago, and couldn't find an alternative hat in time to leave the house early enough to get there. I've put a replacement Spireite hat on to my Christmas list.
This was my nearest game, and a handy local Wednesday evening regular fixture for me, as Baldock groundshare with Arlesey Town. I easily parked up in the narrow spaces in the car park. There has been some work removing the fence and some bushes behind the North goal to clear an access road to the practice pitch to the East of the main pitch. An announcement during HT advised of 2 vehicles in the car park which had gently collided, as 1 driver had forgotten to apply their handbrake.
The game kicked off early at about 7.41, which caught out a couple of late arrivals through the turnstile. 7 minutes in and an own goal from the LGC keeper put Baldock ahead. Baldock kept the pressure up for about 15 minutes before LGC responded with some good attacking play. In the second half LGC appeared to tire, and Baldock went ahead. The Baldock keeper did a fantastic save, after which LGC really lost their vigour, and Baldock pressed home to score the 3rd goal in the closing minutes, with the final whistle blowing on exactly 9.30pm.
