A from behind 1-2 win in a game of few chances. Two bits of real quality, both involving sub Sean Giordmana, who equalised direct from a corner kick (don't see those often). The winner saw him latch on to a high through ball from the back, and from the right he played it to striker Dean Florence, who in turn rolled it nicely to the onrushing Kyal Williams from the left who placed his shot well. agamemnon3
Hadley v Oxhey Jets 1-2 Also at this one, and thought that Oxhey more than deserved the win. After a fairly even goalless first half, Hadley went in front seconds after the restart with a speculative header which could have gone anywhere but looped over the keeper and into the net. Oxhey equalised on 63 minutes with a goal directly from a corner kick, which some Hadley players argued had gone through the side netting, but looked fine to me, (and, more importantly, to the referee). The game was won on 83 minutes with a superb breakaway goal, with Hadley players again complaining that the goal shouldn't stand, due to an alleged foul in the build-up. The manner of their complaining earned one of them a red card. A fine, battling performance from Oxhey, who can be proud of how they have turned things around following their troubles at the start of the season. I don't know what is going wrong at Hadley. Whatever sense of spirit that has made them such a good side to watch over the past few years is sadly lacking, and I can't ever recall them being such a whiny, argumentative bunch as they are right now. Very disappointing...

Badge £3 in bar - staff v. busy as they double as food prep/servers knew I had badge from a long ago previous visit - but was a plastic button-type looked different/this one was solid enamel and different design/colour? Need to dig out the old one to check...... Att: official 202 but with the layout of the ground it did not look full, even though most were lined along the clubhouse side. Is a very small covered stand over the far side between the dugouts. No other major changes to note from my most recent visit 3-4 years back. Car park full but nice chap on gate found me a space, on the assurance I wasn’t hanging about after match. Directions: Out via A4/A404M thru Wycombe/Sands -then keeping right of the lit-up Hellfire Mausoleum onwards N on A4010 - roads fairly clear - look for left-fork before PR signed Shootacre Lane - takes you down to a bridge at Horsenden Lane - ground left/right up the Lane opposite the station. Match: early goal - ball forced in close range H/t Difficult to understand why RR are so effective - unbeaten 1 point behind Leighton, with 4 games in hand. Certainly well-organized and resolute at the back but didn't appear to do much with what possession they had. Not quite sure when they last lost a league game - must've been long before lockdown.... 'Heathens' looked under-powered and quite youthful (but useful) are a club much in transition, following a shift of leagues and a new management team in this month. - on this showing, they badly need an 'old-head' to hold things up going forward and harry the opposition - the sort of thing their recently departed ex-player-Manager (big bad Marcus R.) was able to provide himself, as a Plan Z when things weren't happening for them. Sadly I suspect the years had eventually caught up with him and he could no longer come on and cause mayhem and change the game. Last 10' ref injured something - lengthy delay whilst replacement lino found amongst the home officials? back home the same way - indoors via Kings Chef c. 22:45.
