If you looked up defender in a dictionary, you could see a picture of Guy Hollis! A player that genuinely looks like he loves to defend. One of my favourite players but he will never be a centre forward!

As for the mention again of “relegation rivals” i find this ridiculous at this stage.

Yes Guy Hollis is a defender,I know that but I'm not saying to use him as a number 9. My idea was a temporary solution and just a way to bring some strength/ muscle up front, and to irk and be a nuisance to Havant's centre halves. I wouldn't be looking for Guy to score goals. I would focus on what he does best and that is challenging players for the ball on the deck and in the air, making hard tackles and battling the opposition for the ball. Ben Harris is the centre forward and George Hunt would be my creative player playing off him and Guy Hollis, for any scraps that came his way.

Guy Hollis looks like he will now replace Mark Nisbet in defence today.

I agree the term 'relegation rivals' in October is ludicrous.

It’s a fact that we currently occupy a position that’s in the relegation zone, and the immediate teams around us are rivals for the drop so it’s not ridiculous at all. I’m not saying we will be relegated I’m just stating a fact. Phrases such as this plus promotion and play off rivals are commonly mentioned in football by many.

Yes but we can't be relegated in October, can we?  I actually think that puts unfair pressure on our managers and players, by saying such phrases. Currently we should be looking to encourage our players to express themselves on the pitch and to enjoy their football, and take the results that come with that. Not by analysing their form with a finetooth comb, in every individual game they play.

It’s a fact also that there’s 96 points to play for yet and we are 6 points from the top half of the table. Let’s not talk ourselves into a position after 8 games!

I’m merely stating current facts, simply as that, no need to go back and forth on this.

Luckily they’re not snowflakes and won’t melt at seeing such strong language (unlike some of you on here!).

Bang on 3spirit.
Doom and gloom spreads and at the very least we know the managers read this. Talking of relegation is an insult to them and they need to know supporters back them, especially when results aren’t going our way.

Ok you stick to your words and I’ll stick to mine ok?

Agree, RW.

Slough Town's team have a tough assignment this season, I know that but I certainly don't see it as a formality that our team has to struggle. I see our squad as a rebuilding venture this time around. I don't see us as a play off side[always hopeful but I'm a realist]. I can see the side evolving over the season, to give our supporters some cheer. We need to be patient with this process.

I don’t think you two are quite grasping it! It’s not me personally saying I think we’ll get relegated, I’m just stating our current predicament, can you not see and understand the difference?

Yes I get what you are saying but I don't agree with you. I find it unhelpful to our cause, when we know our team is limited in funds, are having to play novices and youngsters to bridge gaps and are running with a threadbare squad.

Threadbare is not the right word but can't think of another way of describing it.

Thanks for letting me know what I’m thinking Glen.
I fully understand that you don’t think we will get relegated, I’m saying I disagree with using the term in relation to us. Let’s just agree to disagree on this one.
