Be happy with a draw tomorrow, if we lose I think we have got a long weary season ahead.

Having been to the tremendous Ebbsfleet United match last week and considering the work that is being done to strengthen the squad, IMO Rebels fans are going to see lots of exciting football during the rest of the season ... and after tomorrow's match there will still be 80% of the season left!

Personally I'd settle for dull football and points on the board.

As the season progresses the last thing we want is to get into a relegation scrap.

Unfortunately I think with the looking ahead coming out we are still in trouble as with the greatest respect to Lee Togwell he isn't a centre back and certainly not 1 in this level of football and once again we are in a position (as with Ryan Bird and Nathan Smart before him) of fitting a square peg in a round hole.

Add to the above personally I still have major doubts about North in goal, our inability to score goals and some issues with what should be our strongest position in midfield and think we are already in for a long and extremely challenging season.

I am desperate to be wrong on the above and am looking forward to be proven as such, starting with tomorrow.

I am also keen to see a match go by without "excuses" whether it's a missed pen, a pen given, a pen not given, a ref etc we need to be better in every area of the pitch and I hope this will start tomorrow.

RR - if any person be that a director, a manager, a player or a fan associated with Slough Town thinks that we are in anything but a relegation battle, they are kidding themselves.

I’ve not seen every game so it’ll be unfair to comment fully but it’s obvious we have a reduced budget this season and won’t be able to sign the calibre of player to make us a play off side. Personally if we get near to mid table come the seasons end we would have done well, I just hope we can starve off a relegation battle, although fortunately this season only one goes down (next season it’s 3).

As I understand it ( but could be wrong) the two clubs that finish at the bottom of N/S are automatically relegated.

The next club which has the worst record from either N/S is automatically relegated.

So potentially two clubs from either N/S can be relegated.

On Lee Togwell, I think he's good enough and experienced enough to do a job for us in central defense.

He's always been and I think still is a vital cog in our midfield.

At the moment we are playing Aaron Kuhl and George Hunt in midfield.

George Hunt is a young player with a lot of ability and as far as I'm aware he's playing his first season in senior men's football after recovering from a serious injury.

I know that currently we have no choice but without Togs in central midfield I think we lack the experience/grit required in the NLS.

We keep having this discussion, so to make it clear. Bottom of our league goes down, bottom 2 from North go down, this is because South has 21 teams and the North 22.

Scott Davies has been in midfield last 2 games who has a bundle of experience at pro and semi pro level.

Yes, but he doesn't provide, for want of better words, solidness/tackling/aerial ability that Togs provides.

IMO in this standard of football you can't have just ball players in midfield.

Not convinced on this Ade…

The way I see it is there are currently 23 teams at step 1 and 43 at step 2, they want to get to 24 and 48 for next season, so there will be 3 going down from step 1 and 4 up from step 2, which takes you to 24 at step 1, that will then leave 42 clubs at step 2…

There will be 8 coming up from step 3 (2 from each feeder league) which with nobody being relegated would mean 50 teams, so the way I see it is 1 team from each league will go down, taking it down to 48.

However if you look on BBC Sport league tables it does show 2 going down from North and 1 from South, though as per the above I am not sure how this can work?

I don't like to comment first after a defeat (especially as I wasn't at the match today but relied on Adrian's excellent commentary). But even with only one (or two as the case may or may not be) going down, is it too early to be seriously concerned? I'd say no it isn't.

The basic facts are we've only won once so far this season, with no clean sheets since the opening day. We're the joint-lowest scoring team in the division alongside bottom Hemel Hempstead. We were also played off the park at home against a side struggling two levels beneath us.

Whilst effort-wise we've improved tenfold since that debacle, we still look error-prone at the back and are struggling to create chances, let alone score goals. This is what concerns me far more than the defence. In terms of goals conceded, our defensive record so far is better than most of the sides around us, and better than Concord's and Eastbourne's, both of whom are currently in the play-offs!

So far this season our league record is P 8 W 1 D 2 L 5, with 5 points from a possible 24. Over the past year (since our play-off game against Dartford) our league record is P 20 W 4 D 5 L 11, with 17 points from a possible 60. That's relegation form whichever way you look at it. Maybe what the Non-League file's podcast said about our squad had some merit after all? ???

It’s too early to panic but the signs aren’t great let’s be fair. Whilst we’re only 8 games into the season what we can’t afford is to get cut adrift too far. I guess it’s a case of waiting a few more games to see if it can be turned around, if not I guess difficult conversations need to be taken and maybe we have to sacrifice 4 players (just as an example) to sign 2 quality players?

Unfortunately Ade had to leave straight after the game today so we weren’t able to do an interview. A very rare occurrence and in no way linked to the result/performance as we always “show up” and share our thoughts with him after every game.

I haven’t tweeted as I can’t find the right words tonight. Very disappointed and we’d prefer to keep our thoughts to ourselves right now.

Normal service will be resumed next week I’m sure.

I’m concerned about the negativity that seems to be spreading. Whilst the results aren’t what we’d want them to be, the talk of relegation and must win games in mid October is not good for anyone. I’ve seen most games and the work rate and desire is still there and we should know by now that this is the foundation of Bakes and Unders teams. Players are playing for the shirt, the managers are still as passionate about turning things around as they’ve always been and supporters need to stay positive and get behind the team in a poor run.

Negativity can gain momentum, affects confidence, discourages supporters from attending, comments start to get made to players during games. Let’s stick with them all. They’ll turn it around.

Thanks Jon. The "show up" part is exactly why I thought it was strange.

Looking forward to seeing g what you and Neil have planned to start turning things around?
