Sir Rebel1965
Scotty on BBC 1 at 9:00pm tonight talking about gambling in football. Reading Rebel
Bit of a shame they've put in the article that Paul Merson plays golf with Scott Davies (Reading).
Sir Rebel1965
A very revealing and honest documentary from Paul who showed the depth of the problem he has to deal with every day. Also some very startling comments from Scott who probably reflected the situation in the current game, showing it is as bad as the less pressured/regulated times when Paul played. The Documentary used excellent examples of what the gambling addiction does to people and their families and backed it up with medical facts. The other big takeaway from the documentary was the levels of targeted data used by the gambling companies to keep the gamblers “hooked” and to milk every last penny they can regardless of the consequences to the person or their families. The bit which really stinks is the way the sport has prostituted itself and allowed the gambling firms to get in bed with them and even looking at Slough Town FC’s own website in the Vanarama drop down is a link to 32 RED – time that clubs started to protect their players and fans from these leaches – maybe STFC as a community club with links to youth football should take the lead and cut these links! Thank you Scott and Paul for being so honest.

Sir Rebel1965
Mark - the exploitation and the way it is all tied in stinks, and too many in football have sold their soles to organisations that do not have footballs best interests at heart. Paul freely admitted he had chased the money to fuel his addiction.
Reading Rebel
I don't know but I'd hazzard a guess that the drop down box linking to 32 red is a requirement for every club as part of the sponsorship deal.
Reading Rebel
Unfortunately, whilst players and their agents continue to bleed the game dry with their incomprehensible/extortionate/obscene wage demands, football will be at the mercy of gambling companies. sdelaney
It was shocking to see the difference with the results of his brain scans on the different subjects. Frightening it can be anyone caught up in gambling.

Correct. We’re mandated to include this by the league.
