An excellent backs to the wall and smash and grab 1-0 win for Broadfields United at Isthmian League South Central Division Staines Town in their Middlesex Senior Cup First Round tie with Connor Spinks scoring the goal in the eleventh minute. See a match report and a groundhopper from another Forum was in attendance, they are rewarded with a trip to St Panteleimon or Brentford 'B' in the Second Round who meet at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium on Wednesday 27 October:

Match Report: Staines Town FC 0 - 1 Broadfields United FC : First Team

Staines Town 0 Broadfields United 1
Entry - £5 (conc). Weather - dry and cool. Attendance - h/c 60
Pretty thin fare here. BU scored on 11 - an excellent goal from a narrow angle from Spinks, but the home keeper should have saved it. Match fairly even but Step 4 Staines just couldn't break down a resolute Step 5 BU defence. Staines missed an open goal right at the death which just about summed their performance up.

Broadfields United travel to Brentford B on Tuesday 23 November, kick off 7.45pm, but, surprise surprise, they won't get to perform on the hallowed turf at the sparkling new Brentford Community Stadium, I gather the tie will take place at Brentford's training ground at Jersey Road in Osterley.

Don't forget the only game this evening, and during midweek, involving SSML Club's other than the ten Challenge Trophy First Round ties also taking place:

Disappointment for Harefield United this evening going down narrowly to an 81st minute winning goal, the home side took an early lead however Courtney Austin equalised on 21 minutes:

The tie will be played at Northwood FC, it's disappointing that Broadfields United won't have the 'rightful' opportunity to play at the sparkling new Brentford Community Stadium:

Broadfields United are understandably 'chomping at the bit' to be let loose on their illustrious opponents tomorrow evening in a tie that is being played at Northwood FC and, disappointingly, not at the Brentford Community Stadium. At least Liam Bird's men will be as fresh as daisies going into the tie, not having played at the weekend, whereas Brentford B have just returned from an extremely gruelling tour of Cyprus as part of the Korantina Homes Cup where they played three matches in a short space of time against Pafos FC, Rodina Moscow and Aris Limassol:

Lets get ready to rumble, I have a feeling Broadfields United could pull off a shock as Brentford B will be out on their feet following their tour of Cyprus:

Karen - Yes, I will hold my hands up, it shows how wrong you can be however it seems that Broadfieds United didn't turn up and just lay down after Brentford B took a four minute lead:
