So the Kevin Christou era began for Jets at Wilks Park, with 8 debutants. On one showing I'd say 3 have potential, and 3 will probably never play for the club again.

First half was attack versus defence with Jets on the back foot but occasionally breaking with pace, and had we held out until half time it would have been a good foundation on which to build.

Sadly individual errors meant it was 2-0 to the hosts at the break, and I can't have been the only one fearing the worst.

The second 45 was much more competitive, right back Kenny Nobrega finishing a good move to halve the deficit.

Parity seemed within Jets grasp for a bit, Sean Giordmaina getting clattered by the keeper as he bravely tried to convert a nice ball from Massoxi Barrados, who really grew into the game.

Hope disappeared though with an amateurish challenge in the box and a well taken pen, and then the central defensive pairing let themselves down by allowing a soft fourth which flattered FH.

A late goal for the pacey Kyal Williams proved controversial, not in the scoring but the aftermath. Williams went to retrieve the ball with 4 minutes on the clock but keeper O'Sullivan had other ideas with a shameful dying swan act, clutching his face when no contact was made. Nevertheless both were booked by fussy ref Chris Howes, O'Sullivan later helped off the pitch for his phantom 'injuries' by his combative manager and miraculously well enough to throw water at the Jets dugout as was led past.

An unsavoury end then to an entertaining game low on quality. Both sides can take heart from the game for different reasons, but I'd say one of these sides will be in the bottom 3 come May. And it won't be Oxhey.

A groundhopper from another Forum was at Ampthil Park, no programmes must have gone down like a lead balloon:

Ampthill Town 3 - 1 Letchworth Garden City Eagles (HT 0 - 1)
Spartan South Midlands League Division One (Step 6)
Ampthill Park
Admission £6/3
Attendance 134 and 7 dogs
No progs
Tea £1
A change in my original plan, that would have involved an approximately 110 miles round trip, needing to conserve the fuel I have in my car to get to work next week I decided to travel under 20 miles to Ampthill in Bedfordshire instead.
On arrival it was obvious that the Rugby Football Club were playing at home (against Coventry), and being directly across the road, meant a continuous stream of nose to tail parking. Thus meaning I missed kick off by about 2 minutes, once I had walked back to the football ground.
LGC opened the scoring at 28 minutes from a corner kick. The second half saw AT up their game, with 2 goals in quick succession at around 60 minutes. A third goal in added time sealed the game.
