Glen  Chippenham have a home Bank Holiday game with H&W tomorrow so not surprising not many travelled imo There is an almost full Bank Holiday program so I doubt if many clubs took their usual away numbers on Sat hence numbers weren't boosted by away support

Adrian, I would guess that the majority of supporters who travel away are season ticket holders and as such playing another game on the bank holiday Monday would have little effect on away support.

I think home games against Chippenham are one of the lowest attended games and their away support must be one of the lowest in the league.

We should have and deserved to win but poor defending and a bit of luck for Chippenham stole the points for them.

May I ask what game you were watching Glen? ? For all our possession, we didn't look like scoring for much of the game. A draw would have been a fair result, but Chippenham did had the better chances, they kept plugging away and in the end got their reward.

Maybe ask the managers then Nathan especially Jon who stated he would have been disappointed with a draw and felt we deserved to win.

Agree Nathan and that is my main worry this season now, I do not believe there are enough goals in the team.

TBH much like the Chelmsford and Dartford games I can hardly remember their keeper having to make a decent save.

Agree RR… It’s concerning!

Good photo though!

I thought the bloke standing behind the net may have put the Slough player off, when he struck his penalty!?

Crowd of ‘just’ 560 today, down 79 from what was a disappointing opening day crowd of 639. Obviously some are missing from COVID related but our average is a good 200 down which for a club that solely relies on people through the gate doesn’t bode well for any squad strengthening.

I agree that it was a disappointing crowd but we were sandwiched between Maidenhead United v Dover Athletic (1,060) and Hayes & Yeading United v Taunton Town (253).

Standing behind the goal right in line with the penalty I agree, having watched the match highlights on YouTube, that the penalty was along the ground but after Will Henry saved it, the ball ballooned some four feet above the crossbar right in front of me which affected my recollection of the actual penalty kick.

I can't blame Jonathan North for conceding the goal. At all levels of football, goalkeepers do not save all free kicks and shots cleanly but on this occasion, the ball dropped a little forward of Jonathan North and Ross Stearn was there to pounce.

I'm not sure those games would have had much affect if any on our attendance especially the H&Y one.

I think it's just an accumulation of Covid, Bank Holiday and some people have just got out of the habit and have found other things to do.

It might just take a bit of time for some to return.

Thought their goalie moved before the kick plus his foot wasn't on the line and for their goal North's knee took the ball away from him otherwise he claims it before matey knocks it in.

Our preformance was not dissimilar to Chelmsford game, just we couldn't get the goal.

There are a few faces missing from the crowd, not sure why but probably a combination of reasons.

Nice to be able to take a pint to watch the game from anywhere!

Thanks Bernie for pointing out that the ball unfortunately hit Jonathan North's knee which is why it moved a little forward. I even missed this finer point when watching the match video highlights! The free kick was cleverly taken with Bunker and Mann making it uncertain for North which one of them was going to take it with Stearn on hand to slot home the loose ball.

Two very evenly matched teams where for most of the game it looked like one goal would decide the outcome.

Again, some of our approach play was good without that killer ball/cross or shot in the final third to finish off a move.

Bringing on Lawal late on seemed to revitalize us in attack which eventually brought about the penalty which gave us the opportunity to grab all three points.

On the penalty I'm sure that Ryan Bird picked up the ball and wanted take the penalty but for some unknown reason the ball was given to Eitel to take.

It's got to be said that no blame is to be attached to Eitel for missing the penalty in what was a high pressure situation where if scored would more than likely have given us all 3 points.

In fact for such a young lad Eitel should be applauded for having the bottle to step up and take it.

Still early in the season but Welling away next week is looking like a big 3 points.

But a week can be a long time in football ... Welling United  2  Concord Rangers  1  today!

We will be the home team  Welling have failed to score away and have averaged 4 goals conceded away from home Plus we were the only team in our league who didn't have the exertions of a Monday game  I'm sure the lads will take note of this unexpected result and be more cautious but I'd still be expecting a Rebel victory on Saturday

We will be the home team? The match is Welling United v Slough Town at Park View Road.
