Our first home game of a new season played in excellent weather attracted a crowd in the low six hundreds Am I the only one who found that disappointing?

Certainly a couple of hundred below our average from the last full season.

Perhaps it's still the hangover from Covid?

I think the Chelmsford support could have been better.

I am finding that going to matches regularly was a habit, and with no Slough matches to attend in almost 18 months the habit has been broken to some extent.

I haven’t been to any of the pre-season matches or the Chelmsford match, but I do have a season ticket & probably will be back at matches soon. The same may be true of others & after a month or so I would expect home attendances to be back up at around 800.

I think this could well be one of the reasons.

I don't think the vast majority of the 'non attenders' because of a change in habits would have bought a season ticket though.

Am I right in saying that all season tickets are counted in the attendance figures whether they have attended or not?

I always like to sit in the main stand towards the back as a better view of the whole pitch / play, as opposed to pitch level.

However, due to COVID concerns, I stood on the side where I could move if someone came close to me.

Being up close pitch side, when the ball goes out, you get the players coming right up to you.

I guess where does the worry stop.

Saying that, I bumped into 5 people immediately on Saturday with 3 of them shaking my hand. It is second nature, before you know it, your hand is going out shaking back (like a split second).

I do think we lost a few through the gate due to 'concerns' which is understandable, but seeing so many people saying great to be back, smile of faces, hearing the players get stick from the stands with the usual comments that make you chuckle, left me going home with a smile on my face for first time in months.
