v Chelmsford City

Chelmsford are not predicted/expected to be competing at the top end of the league but as always they will be a side that will be difficult to beat.

It's only the first game of the new season but this game could possibly provide us with a good indication of how our season might pan out.

Although our target as a club has to be to reach the play-offs, my personal opinion is that we will be doing well to steer clear of the bottom end of the table and remain an NLS club for next season.

We seem to be hanging our hat(s) on a few old heads, along with a heavy reliance on our youth set-up producing the goods. We've got some very decent young 'uns but the Conf South can be a demanding place so fingers crossed. I'd take a point now from the first game of the season.

Sounds familiar.

3 points from our 1st game of the season and no goals conceded Can't really better that.

It's irrelevant imo who points are won from or lost to A well fancied team or an unfancied one  They will all come round in turn  and the lads will try their best to get them.

One thing I'm  really pleased about is that the lads really delivered in replacing Jack Turner  First class so far.

Was fully expecting a draw today so very happy we got the win with a well taken cross and goal. Chelmsford had a couple of decent chances to score but ‘Northy’ kept them out and had a decent game. Hopefully today’s win will give the players a little more confidence especially up next against one of the title favourites Dartford and ex player Roberts (who came on as sun and scored 2 very late goals to win the game).

Maybe he should do better research if his signings are failing him after one match! He’s probably alone in thinking bad mouthing his players will get the desired reaction.

But he shouldn’t worry because there’s apparently 6 clubs with larger budgets than hid so he’s only a point or so off where his team should be placed!

Even opening to the game but as the first half wore on we started to get more and more possession without that important final ball and cutting edge.

Best chance of the half fell to Chelmsford who managed to hit the post when a goal looked more likely.

We started the second half on the front foot dominating the majority of the play.

Again we produced a lot of good football until the final third where the final pass or cross wasn't the best which allowed the two experienced giant center backs Winfield and Spillane to mop up.

The first real chance of the half again fell to Chelmsford when they breached our defense leaving a one on one with Northy who produce a top class save to keep the score at 0-0.

The dead lock was finally broken when we produced a bit of real quality. The excellent Matt Lench played a cross field ball which enabled Max Worsfold to put in a superb cross to the feet of Tom Derry who made no mistake with his first time finish.

In the end it was a thoroughly deserved win and our first 3 points on the board.

COYR!!!

There is a very detailed account of the Concord/Dorking game now on the Dorking site Feisty game with regular visits  from both trainers  A game of 2 penalties  Concord scored  Dorking didn't  and a Dorking player received a straight red for aggressive behaviour End of report comments from Marc White who appears to have now taken his medication very toned down from his post match rant.

Well done bakes@unders and the squad great start to the season  with a win clean sheet and 3 points especially in hot conditions.

The five debutants deserve praise and well done to Sean in his tenth season has never let the squad or club down during his time with us if asked to play ninety minutes or ten minutes superb player.

How good was it to be back on Saturday. Walking through the turnstiles, sun out and within 10 minutes, bumping into 5 different people not seen in ages. First time felt 'normal' in a long time.

Onto the game, think we started slow, but second half we looked good, especially the wide men.

First time I got to see Goueth play and was very impressed. Lenchy was, well Lenchy. Northy made some fantastic saves at 0-0, espeically the one on one (what a replacement for Jack).

Saying that, it was tiring watching the players run around, so fair play for putting in the shift and getting a hard fought win.

Don't worry about Roberts, Mark 'Beckenbauer' Nisbet will have him in his pocket ?
