GarySTFC
Saw this very sad news yesterday afternoon, oddly enough whilst in Slough. Roy was a fantastic servant to non league football and remained heavily involved with many different clubs and leagues. I had the pleasure of working very closely with him during the late 90's and through the 2000's and can only thank him, and his family, for the time, effort and no doubt finances as he strived to improve the club and no doubt give it a good footing to help it to the excellent setup it is today. A huge loss for football and my thoughts are with the Merryweather family.
GlenSTFC
Echo Gary’s comments and I too worked closely with Roy over the years. Roy was always enthusiastic and we would have many chats about football in general. He was a lovely genuine person and will be greatly missed. grandad
Agree with the others, Roy was a top bloke, and always made time to chat to the "average" fan, and not just those he knew. RIP
