Was surprised they signed Floody as he’s been playing sparsely and at lower leagues since he left us. Be interesting how he fares after a few seasons away from this level (he’s bound to score against us!!!).

I actually think it's a good signing for them,as they've got nothing to lose in taking a chance on him, and you don't get many strikers around with his proven experience on the cheap. Also Chris Flood isn't a bad egg, he isn't trouble, and he is willing enough to be a team player and most importantly, he can be a handful upfront on his day.

Since he left Slough it seems he hasn't been able to settle at any particular club but surely this must be down to the demands of the job he now has. Bloody work always gets in the way of football, and enjoying yourself ! ha ha !

Dan Roberts lives in Bracknell.

It's a wonder they haven't made him a good offer.

Just seen a Football In Berkshire report online and it states that Dan Roberts played 58 games for Slough and scored 13 goals, 3 of which came in a game against Dorking. Are these statistics true?

I forgot about the hat-trick Dan scored against Dorking.

If those stats are correct and taking out the hat trick and that’s 10 goals in 57 games... but he’s still young and 1 good season could change everything for him. Not sure he’d go back to Bracknell after how it ended there plus they’re still 2 divisions lower and money isn’t everything.

I still say Dorking Wanderers as they are "another club in our league" and with English Football League ambitions. That would be a forward move for Dan, not a sideways one. The club has facilities at least as good as Arbour Park with big plans in place and combined with "the better offer", Dan has made his move.

We will see if I am correct on Thursday!

It's only my opinion but Dan Is still raw and trying to learn his trade at this higher level and game time is paramount if he's ever going to improve and make it to a higher level.

Is going to Dorking going to get him more game time than he'd get at Slough?

The answer in my opinion is no.

Or is it all about the money on offer rather than the amount of football he's going to play?

SG, it is a sideways move (money apart) until Dorking get promoted.

It's now Monday and with no club announcing the signing of Dan Roberts, it doesn't take a genius to work out the club could well be Dorking.

Dartford

If that is true, it doesn't guarantee him any more games than he would have got playing for Slough. I would say Dartford on paper have the better squad than Slough, though, and are probably more likely to be challenging for the title than Slough will be.Hope that statement is wrong but I wouldn't bet against it.

We will have to wait and see if Dan Roberts is a success there, or just another flash in the pan.

Obviously no one knows what our final squad will be but finances dictate that Dartford should have the better squad, at least on paper.

Dartford it is then.

Still seems odd going from a 15 minute drive round the corner to a round trip of 4 1/2 hours to play at the same level.

Double the money Eddie, even full time?

Sorry RR. I read the Fans Forum webpage before I read the Slough Town FC webpage. DW probably, I think.

I am disappointed that Dan has signed for Dartford.

Don't you like Dartford then, SG?  ha ha !

I presume you mean you are disappointed to see Dan leave Slough. If last season with coronavirus, hadn't happened, I think I would feel the same as Dan was a big success in his maiden season with us but as Dan didn't exactly bang in the goals last time out, and that our team/squad struggled largely in the National South [for a variety of reasons], I feel that it won't harm our front line to have a shake up of sorts/freshen up.

I'm pretty sure Dartford are not full-time Bernie.

Possibly the hybrid i.e. full time training at least 3 times a week.

You could well be right, possibly more than double what Slough can offer.

Even so, he'll be going down the dreaded M25 2, 3 possibly 4 times a week.
